    I found relatively inexpensive 8ch HD/SD 3G SDI over single fiber transmitter receiver kit about 5K from thorbroadcast, most companies change about 10-15K for this equipment. did anybody use it ? IS it reliable ?

    This is correct, we deal with fiber all the time, it is easy and cheap send data or video over fiber, but not POE, You need 10/100 or gigabit Ethernet fiber optic transceivers, for short distance multimode are ok
