    Avigilon IPO

The investment is too high to move manufacturing overseas. There is a great video of the Avigilon Factory in Vancouver here, sceptics simply give them a call and ask to visit. It is customary to bring a PO with you to a factory visit ftp://www.avigilon.com/movies/Avigilon_Made_in_Canada.zip
  2. Hi Guys Does anyone know where I can get the ONVIF firmware upgrade for the DVTEL CF-3111 camera, I am trying to migrate a number of them to an ONVIF platform but am being blanked by DVTEL Thanks Robin
  3. Hi Dave Same price, easier to manage plus a 3 year warranty! Cheers Robin
  4. Hi Dave Given that you have stated that the cars are static in a well lit area this sounds like a perfect application for CMOS Megapixel cameras. There are various 5 Megapixel cameras on the market, many close to the price of a quality analogue camera but over 10 x the resolution. Try Avigilon.com or pm me for more information. Where are you based? Best regards Robin
  5. Just a quick question? Would you buy a quality analogue camera without Auto Iris and Backfocus?

    IP Cameras at a Glance

Megapixel CCD every time Assuming the CMOS and CCD are both using a global shutter CCD sensors will generally be more sensitive, have less noise, and a larger dynamic range Oh and a lossless compression But if you want quality like that you must have customers who are prepared to pay for it. There are plenty but you have to dig for them!!

Hi Mike What is the application? This may be a CMOS vs CCD question. Is there much movement in what you are looking at and what is the lighting like?
  8. Hi Frosted Avigilon have CCD cameras up to 16 Megapixel and with the new software Platform they are able to store images locally using a lossless compression right up to raw format but transmit images at whatever bandwidth you choose/ have available, for remote monitoring purposes there is very little point in sending more pixels than you have on your monitor! pm me and I will give you a call Best regards Robin
  9. Hi ZMX Yes we use GB PoE switches. We are in the process of releasing a further lossles compression algorithm whih will reduce the bandwidth enough to use 100BaseT and wireless networks. Utilisation is anybody who is prepared o pay a premium or exceptional quality so Airpots, Ports, Police, Town Centre, Car Parks, stadiums, etc ATB Robin
  10. Avigilon can do 1.4MP and 2MP at 25IPS and 4MP at 15IPS all with lossless compression (multiple cameras per server if required) Is there a specific target you are trying to achieve?

    IP Camera Help Required

The best and the highest Megapixel, but not the cheapest, are Avigilon, CCD and up to 16 MP. Currently they only work with Avigilon servers.

    Arecont 3130 to NAS?

It's all happening, you will see the first breakthroughs in 3-6 months at a guess, keep an eye on the Avigilon range of multimegapixel CCD cameras. At the moment there are 2 things restricting Video anlytics on Megapixel cameras. 1. First Analytics has mostly been confined to analogue cameras to date because of the sheer amount of processing involved. most analytics are processing about 350,000 pixels 7-30 times per second so to process even a 4MP camera would take 10 times the pocessing power. Avigilon are developing hardware analytics within their cameras so even the 16MP will have some analytics 2. Many analytics rely on a good update rate mostly a minimum of 7 IPS. Many megapixl cameras are restricted on capture rate, again by bandwidth and processing power. One way around this is to offer different levels of analytics with different megapixel offerings for instance the 4MPO cameras should allow full functionality such as object tracking, confirmed VMD and the bigger 11MP and 16 MP cameras will have integrated analytics but restrcted to functions such as left baggage detection, no parking detection and museum detection as these functions do not require the update rate. Taking the what might happen in the future train of thought, think we are less than 5 years away from seeing the first solid state (megapixel) cameras with 1TB integrated flash memory.
  13. Sorry mate I can not pm as I am a newbie (actually I am not but I have moved job and forgotten passwords and I don't want my password to be sent to my old work email address, sorry, I digress) You should find a contact under sales on the avigilon website
  14. The good news is there is a new range of multimegapixel industrial CCD cameras available up to 16MP Colour/mono and Mono and IR sensitive (mono only) to 1050nm i.e. military spec black light Look up avigilon on a search engine or pm me I'm afraid I have to disagree with CollinR Autoiris is an absolutely essential addition to changing light conditions i.e outside. This controls the amount of light to the chip to provide the best image, focus and depth of field under all light conditions. Arecont would have you believe that CMOS does not need Autoiris because it keeps costs down. They also say that CMOS do not need back focus!!!!!!!!!! Again a cost cutting measure as is the use of a CMOS chip. CMOS scans across the chip unlike a progressive scan CCD. This can (and does) cause motion blur issues especially if you are relying totally on an electronic shutter to control your light and more so if you are at close range (the object is proportionally faster the closer you are to the chip). CMOS also have a vastly lower Quantum efficiency (10%) to off the shelf CCDs (20%). Basically this is the amount of photons (light particles) which are converted to electrons at the chip. This makes them much less sensitive to light. All the best Robin Hughes
