  1. My Samsung SRD-470D dvr keeps rebooting. I can see on the screen the reboot sequence and sometimes it reboots straight away and sometimes it makes it to the end and I can see the pictures from the cameras and it seems to be working. At times it seconds and other times it lasts 20 minutes and then reboots. Has anyone come across this and know how to resolve it?

Have a look at two things. Powersupply and harddrive. First disconnect your harddrive. Boot up, if it reboots again have a look at the powersupply What is the rating of the powersupply? If it stated 12vDC connect it to a multimeter and check to see if it gives the rated power. It may be that as soon as the harddrive spins up the powersupply fails to provide power to all the parts and then restarts.

  2. Hi all,

I'm looking to get my first CCTV kit (for home use), so just wanted to know whats one of the best options these days.

Please give feedback and opinions on the following:

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/swann-nvr4-7285-4-channel-ip-1tb-cctv-kit-with-2-cameras-a87tu

Is Swann a good brand? I've heard they sometimes rebrand Hikvision.

    Key features I'd like:

    • Budget is around £400 (GBP) or lower.
      NVR Based (IP).
      Reliable.
      Preferably 4 channel or more.
High quality 1080p, 25fps or more.
      Mobile viewing.
      No monthly fee's.
Upgradeability (add other branded cameras in the future).

    All opinions welcome.

    Thank you.

Hi there. Firstly, no, Swann is not a good brand....it is a mass produced brand. There is lots of much better brands out there. My advice is, stay away from kits. Kits are usually the worst items thrown together to make a quick buck. So....I would say search for ONVIF compatible IP cameras, choose 4 of the same...most important. Then go to www.sighthound.com They have software that will work on your PC with some of the best functions, people detection, object detection etc. And can take unlimited cameras. This will make your IP cameras work for you instead of you all the time spending monitoring the cameras......

  3. Hikvision DS-7204HVI-ST/SN

Reset dvr to factory settings. Now continually alarming three long bleeps two short. One camera connected but alarms showing for other three screens. Anyone got any idea how to turn it off? Driving me mad....

    SOLVED:

    Configuration > Exceptions > All

Yes, that is just what I wanted to say. This usually happens if there is no harddrive installed, or if there is cameras not connected.........

  4. im new here and also to cctv world

im here to research and to learn more about trouble shooting

    male

    34 years old

    from Zamboanga City, Philippines

This is one of the best forums to do it in. But, trust me, go to youtube. Study networking, port forwarding, cabling, and look at the variety of functions cameras have (POE, WDR, HLC) and so on......It is a long road.....doing this 20 years and still learning....

  5. This was an old QSD-2316L system. We no longer use it, but have many hard drives that were recorded with it. When reviewing these hard drives on a computer, the video shows up fine but the audio is missing. Audio was recorded and played back fine when still in the qsee machine. But, once removed and put into a computer, only video is present.

If I return the hard drive to the Q-see machine, it will ask me to reformat the hard drive. Obviously if I do that, the video and audio will be lost forever. There are no other options except "reformat" to try when a recorded hard drive is put back into the Q-see machine.

I have tried several players including VLC without luck. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated!

Try to download the KLITE MEGA PACK (different codecs) then do the playback through media player. Solved a lot of my customers issues.

  6. First off I am a newby to the technical side of the camera world. I have been installing them for years for a company but don't do much past just that.

I am new to this NVR. I have only worked with servers for cameras in the past. A couple question if I may.

    http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/...8524985525.pdf

    1. Am I correct in assuming that the two LAN ports on this NVR can be used to connect POE switch's? I guess it just stops you at 32 cameras?

    2. Can I get two monitors to run simultaneously? I have a spot monitor I need to run and loop four camera feeds to. I also have a monitor that will show all the cameras (17-24 cameras so far). For the second monitor I can't use a PC with the VMS software it has to be a monitor. I was thinking HDMI for one and VGA for the second unless there are distance issues. Both monitors are roughly 120 ft. away from the NVR.

    3. I called Hikvision and voiced my concern about bandwidth issues. The highest upload speed we can get here is 12K. They said I should be ok ....... These cameras are all 3 & 4 meg. Seems that if I have three or four people accessing these at the same time I may have an issue. Your thoughts?

Thank you for any insight. I have to install this system pretty soon.

    Brian

My Wapa systems also has two network ports. But, 1 is supposed to go to your router (to link to the internet for remote view) and the other one goes to the POE switches. This way you will have your cameras separate from the network of the company or home, which is a good thing. Will stop IP conflicts and bandwidth issues....but that depends if your system works this way.

  7. good day , someone can help me on recovering my ivms 5000HD account. .i only have ip address , how can do it ? thanks a lot guys

Best is to contact a Hikvision dealer. With my systems I have the recovery console in my office for lost accounts......only available if the customer can prove he purchased the unit from me. With Hikvision, you can also email them (just google their technical support) and send them the serial number and other details you can see.

  8. I beg to differ. It is daytime, nothing to do with the led's. Just you have different shadows and installation points. In other words, to have the camera display correctly on the right, in the position it is in, Home Depot cameras wont do it. Go to a reputable dealer and get a WDR camera. It is meant to work in areas where there is bright light and dark areas mixed....... Laslty....it can be a faulty camera since it is the more "mass produced" and not industrial cameras. Here in our country we have learned to stay away from the bigger retail stores when it comes to CCTV, since they only chase money, not customer satisfaction (they don't need it).

  9. I'm looking to put 3 - 4 outdoor cameras round my property. I'm looking for IP camera with the following functions

    2MP

    Waterproof

    SD card capacity

    mic

    night/day

    IP/cut

    IR/Cut

Remote access to camera via mobile

    Wifi connection

Full pan/tilt remote control via phone software

    motion detection

    Ideally dome / turret style.

Hi there. As soon as you choose "Waterproof", the SD card function, Mic is a risk. It will be better to just buy a standard 2mp Outdoor IP High Speed Dome, connect it up with a wireless bridge, and the money you saved by not having an SD card/microphone build in, use it on a NVR (network recorder) or just link it to a PC inside the house....lots of free software that can work with IP PTZ cameras on which you can dial in and record. The better ones be prepared to pay a little. If you go the NVR route, and not software, you can get a separate microphone that you can install close to the PTZ, but weatherproof it on its own. At least if that blows it is R100 ($6-$8). Not a few $100 like the PTZ.

I seen plenty of outdoor dome style camera, but struggling to find any which you can control remotely via phone to adjust the camera angle. Please could anyone suggest possibilities. Also can I get away with large SD to hold the recording and just access remotely for playback if any incidents happen, rather than a dedicated PC for DVR.

  10. I recently bought a 1080p/AHD DVR that overall works well despite its bargain price. I am running 7 x 1080P cameras and 5 x 960h at this time. I would like to add 4 more cameras and make them all 1080P AHD analog. This is a 16 ch DVR. However, I occasionally run into bandwidth limitations such that not all the cameras can be viewed. It is worse when somebody at the shop is viewing cameras on the LAN and I try to view from my home. The shop, (where the cameras are) has Google Fiber 1 gig up and down, so the internet connection is surely NOT the bottleneck. The LAN at the shop is all 1 gigabit. I cut frame rates down to the minimum needed -- 4-7 FPS -- and use VBR with 2048 bitrate limits.

I assume the bandwidth is limited by the DVR's processor speed? Or is it the ethernet connection in the DVR? I have no specs for what the ethernet spec is.

Where is the bottleneck and how can the bandwidth be increased? I am guessing only by spending much more on the VCR?

    Thanks from Don in Austin

If it is an AHD system, there should not be any "bandwidth" issues that will cause delays to your DVR unit. Unless it is a poorly designed DVR. Other things can be a faulty harddrive causing system instability. In other words if you are using a slower desktop harddrive instead of a CCTV harddrive, like western digitals black drive, or Seagate's SV35 range. But, that is a small possibility. If you are complaining about the remote view, even a 100mb network with cameras on this resolution should not cause problems. Since your internet is more than fast enough I would propose the processor like you stated on this dvr is of a poor quality Or the network port is a problem......
