  1. I think Lorex Technology is in some kind of serious trouble and I don't know when they are going to recover. Therefore, I'm thinking about switching to another brand of camera surveillance system because I need occasional help from technical support. Since Sept. 2016, Lorex quit providing technical support help or customer service to their customers. Can anyone tell me if Lorex 1080 HD cameras are compatible with any other system (i.e. Swann, etc.)? I would like to buy a recorder from another brand that can be classified as good quality and provide excellent technical support. I'm very pleased with clarity and color provided by Lorex non-motorized cameras (LBV2711B). I can save a lot of money if I can keep these cameras in place and hook them up to a new non-Lorex brand recorder.

    Compatibility Question on Lorex Cameras

No,everything you said didn't happen. Keep in mind, Lorex technicians has a very strict procedure to follow to make sure the camera is really defective and not caused by operator error. If your bad camera meets all the criteria, then the technician must then review the case with his supervisor and get the necessary authorization to replace the defective device. Here's what happens when you first contact the technician about the camera that's not working right. The technician remotely takes over your computer and goes over all the settings and making sure the problem is not caused by the recorder. Then I have to go outside with a ladder and follow the technician's direction to try to isolate the problem. This includes having to change the bad camera from the current location to another location. It's a lot of hassle to go thru to get a replacement recorder or camera. Regarding the problem I've been having with motorized LBV2723 camera is that when you first turn it on, the camera image is always in full color. Within 24 hours, the image turns to black & white and it stays that way. I was thinking about talking about this camera in detail in another section at this Forum. However, I put up two posts to see if I can get answers to several questions I have. I have yet to see anyone with answers to any of my questions. Maybe I'm at a wrong Forum to get answers to the type of questions I have.

    Compatibility Question on Lorex Cameras

I was happy with Lorex service until the end of August 2016. My recorder replacement and the several replacements of the camera took place before Sept. 1, 2016. Something bad must have happened with Lorex because beginning Sept. 1, both technical support and customer service quit taking calls from any customer. Hence no more Lorex service.
  4. I upgraded to Lorex's next generation camera surveillance system in February 2016. The new recorder model is DV708-d and the new cameras are 1080 HD (model LBV2711B and LBV2723-C). The recorder quit working completely in June and Lorex replaced it. I've had nothing but problem with the motorized LBV2723-C cameras. The camera went bad in July and its been replaced twice with the same problem. Up until the end of August I was able to talk to someone within 15 minute hold time on the phone. Since the beginning of September, lorex is no longer taking calls from customers. You can still call either tech support or customer service, but you can't reach them or have them call you back. If you try to call either one, you will be told by the automated system that your estimated wait time is in excess of 30 minutes. I was on hold for over an hour on couple times before I gave up. The automated system will also tell you that if you leave your name and call back number someone will get back to you without you losing your position in the wait line. I also tried this and I'm still waiting since Sept. 19. I also noticed that none of Lorex resellers (ie. Costco, Best Buys, Amazon, etc) are carrying the next generation products. Is there anyone here able to shed some light on what's going on with Lorex or tell me how to get a hold of a live person at Lorex?

    Compatibility Question on Lorex Cameras

To: TomCCTV Apparently I didn't do enough to explain why I'm posting my comments/questions at this Forum. I am not angry at Lorex and I am not trying to get even for their poor service. My primary reason for posting my thread at this Forum is to get some answers. If you want to see real anger, go to 'Lorex.pissedconsumer.com'. I think I saw over 100 people venting their anger toward Lorex. I upgraded my Lorex system in February 2016 by purchasing their latest model recorder (DV708-D) and also updated my cameras from 720 to 1080HD cameras. The recorder completely failed in June and Lorex replaced it and I have not had any problem since then. The only reason I'm considering switching the recorder is that I depend on technical support and since Lorex has quit providing this service I thought maybe it's time I change out the recorder of a different brand that provides excellent technical support that I need occasionally. My real problem I'm experiencing is with Lorex's new motorized camera (LBV2723-C). The original camera of this model was changed out three times and they all exhibit the same problem (factory or design defect). The people in the technical support group isn't up to speed on this problem and they kept sending me replacements with the same defect. I plan to post about this camera in another section at this Forum. In this case I think I know where the problem is and maybe I can help Lorex in perfecting this particular camera.

    Is Lorex Technology in Trouble?

I'm just a home owner who wants to protect his property. I'm not into all the jargons used by experienced members of this Forum. What is a cvi unit? Does Dahua actually own & operate Lorex Technology?
