  1. Just have to mention the signal transmission in the cable. For IP cameras it can be lossless as it is built on a digital 1´s and 0´s and are quite simple to amplify. Analog video transmission works only with the relation between 0.35 - 1.4 volt, and as soon it hits the cable it starts to decline or loose quality fast, long cables gets poor resolution, color... quite complex to amplify. So IP gets my wote, analog or digital. Dont think I seen one analog amplifier or camera built for security purpose/market that live up to its own specifications. /Peter

  5. The protocol you are looking for is named "AD422" and is the open one. Just worked with it yesterday so drop me a mess if you run in to problem. I also have it in a PDF or use google. You can run it with rs422 or rs485 with AD422@4800, for sensornet input you need some kind of AD controler ADTT16, AD2088 and so. It also can be run as Pelco@2400/9600. Mr. pePPe
