  3. Any DVR/NVR with an alarm input I would use a megapixel system for this type of environment.
  4. What modem are you using? Do you have a separate router or does the modem have a built in router? You more likely have a router port forwarding issue.

    You are right, you will need and amplifier in order to use the horn as a mic. Those Mini Omni-directional Microphones are Pre-amplified.

    Wireless cameras

    You will need power at the camera location to power up the camera and transmitter, unless you utilize Solar energy. You will also have to run power and video from the receiver back to the DVR.

    We have been using Rosslare Security Products for a while now with great results.
  18. Not sure if it's widely available in the UK, but I would go with Dahua, because it's been tried and proven to be reliable and stable for many years now, plus support is widely available. Not to mention, it supports all platforms for remote monitoring and playback even on a smartphone.

    Remove the HDD completely and see what happens. Look in the Alarm section in the DVR settings and see what's enabled. Alarm Notification = ADVANCED CONFIG>ALERT>INT. BUZZER System Reset = SYSTEM>SYSTEM INFO>RESET DEFAULT Check the onboard CR2032 Battery, if the settings resets by itself.

    16 strategically placed, 15-30fps 2MP(1080p) Cameras, would more than do the job. You may not even need 16 it they are positioned properly.

    Dahua will do all that you're looking for. You can view multiple Cameras on Mobile devices from various locations, both Analog and IP. You can view multiple Cameras on MAC with Client Software from various locations, both Analog and IP.
