  1. And the answer is "YES" What I did to determine if it was still unbrickable: - put NVR & PC together on the same switch, nothing else connected - put pc on 192.0.0.128 - ping -t to 192.0.0.64 - power on NVR -> A few seconds after power-up I received replies, to my request indicating the NVR was "alive" (enough...) And for the unbrick: - Power off NVR and stop the ping action - Downloaded firmware for my type from the international Hikvision site - Downloaded Hikvision TFTP server from another source (google is your friend) - Put the firmware file in the TFTP folder - Run TFTP server (with the above network configuration !) - Power on the NVR and the update starts. -> A few moment later the NVR beeped 2 times and I shut down the server. The NVR rebooted into the user menu. Happy days
  2. Hello, I've bought this NVR second hand. It *should* be a nearly new "EU" unit. There only was no harddisk present. Since I have 2 WD greens left over from my previous nas build, I was thinking this was the deal for me.... I've removed all partitions form one harddisk, and I put it in the Hikvision. A few moments after power up the unit beeps 2 times and a little later a "splash" screen appears on both the HDMI and VGA output. It's stays there and nothing happens. The rx/tx led on the front flashes now and then suggesting some data (broadcast) but that's all. Since it's second hand I have no idea what IP address it's on (cannot find it in the usual IP address ranges) so I don't know if the web interface is functional. With no harddisk present the unit behaves exactly the same. I've tried removing the backup battery; the voltage seems fine. Of course the guy I've bought it from didn't reply to my emails anymore... I would say the Hikvision should boot to it's menu regardless its harddisk' status, am I right ? I'm starting to fear the unit has a hardware problem, or someone put the wrong firmware in it. How do I determine what version I have ? SN is 468792997. Do I have a chance to recover it with TFTP ? If so, where can I get the firmware for this unit ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks !
