    BBV protocol

BBV provide some great gear for getting most of us out of the **** Using one of their Starcards or a starcard/converter together with a CT1/16 coax telemetry interface, it is possible for almost any DVR to control BBV up the coax cameras using the conventional system methods, whether this be a keypad, or remote client software etc. This of course assumes that the dvr has an RS422/485 port available. http://bbvcctv.com/products.htm

    1/2" and larger Lenses

We are finding a shortage in the availability of 1/2" and larger lenses. As the chip sizes in CCTV cameras has become smaller, there is less demand for larger lens formats. With the growing popularity of megapixel cameras, we are now seeing larger chip sizes, which once more require the larger format lenses, but are having a struggle to find a decent range to choose from. Any advice?
  3. You can use Poe Powered ethernet repeaters. It is possible to cascade up to three of these devices, so you could reach up to 400m without the need for any external power along the route. Check out [edit by mod - For advertising options please see this link: http://www.cctvforum.com/advertise.php ] for further information and datasheets etc.
  4. There are several things that affect the system network bandwidth, most importantly these are the physical sizes of the images from each of the cameras and the frame rate settings, and the compression method, i.e. MPEG4, or Motion JPEG etc. Another matter worth consideration is how many users are likely to want to view the cameras simultaneously over the network. It is best to consider an NVR with dueal ethernet ports such as the Wavestore (details are available on our website - follow the Wavestore digital recorders tab), where you can keep the high bandwidth camera network traffic separated from the site network, which always pleases the IT and finance managers. Regarding POE, this offers a very convenient method of installation, but you should consider the performance of the camera itself as your first priority, and if your favoured camera has POE, then all the better. One thing to bear in mind though, is that POE cannot power the heater in an external housing, so for these locations external power will be required anyway. There is a megapixel cameras resolution and specification comparison table on our website, where you can access all of the datasheets also. Hope this helps.
  5. Wavestore offer a large range of Hybrid digital video recorders, with capacities for up to 32 conventional analogue and an additional 32 IP and megapixel cameras in one box. A simple IP range of recorders is also available, and very soon, you will be able to obtain a ghost disk to create your own Linux based IP & Megapixel video security system. I have not posted enough replies to formally list my web site details, but if you google search for "Puls Limited", you will find plenty of information on the Wavestore, including an on-line demonstration of a Live system for you to play with.
  6. Wavestore have probably the best software solution on the planet for recording IP and megapixel CCTV cameras. The software is Linux based, and will shortly be available as a ghost disk to convert a conventional pc into a fully blown bahemoth of a DVR. Each server can record up to 32 IP and megapixel cameras, and multiple servers can be seamlessly integrated into an enormous CCTV system with many thousands of cameras. I have not posted enough replies to formally list my web site address, but if you google search for "Puls Limited", you will find tons of information about the Wavestore digital video recorders. There is also an on-line demonstration of a live unit, for you to play with.

    Pelco Endura Problems

The Pelco Endura is a fully scaleable IP based video security system allowing up to 48 cameras per recording block, which is arranged as it's own dedicated VLAN. The system is designed to operate on it's own dedicated network, and the number of VLANS is only limited by the network capacity. Multiple viewing blocks are also possible, again each structured within a dedicated VLAN, offering the most flexible virtual matrix system available on the planet. The system can also be seamlessly integrated into an existing analogue control room with the matrix digital decoder. I have not posted enough replies to submit my web site address formally, but if you do a google search for puls limited, you wil find a wealth of information about the Pelco Endura within these pages.
