  1. If you're running Hikvision cameras and using their iVMS-4500 iOS app you should uninstall it and change your passwords asap. This isn't the first time they have been hacked either. Malware XcodeGhost Infects 39 iOS Apps, Including WeChat, Affecting Hundreds of Millions of Users
  2. Hikvision used Xcode which is compromised WITH malware. This is a big deal which effects a lot of people including many people on this site.

IR Illuminator Competition. - Who won?

Main question is the longevity of these units.
  4. Fisheye cameras are designed for situational awareness if you expect any more you will be disappointed.
  5. With 5.6 you can pull the fisheye stream and the quad stream from the camera. It is definitely an improvement over 4.0
  6. I have one installed at a site running 5.4. In ACC 5.6 Avigilon pulls multiple streaming from the camera as there is no client side dewarping. If you want client side dewarping and motion detection http://www.oncamgrandeye.com/ works.
  7. Oncam works with motion detection in Avigilon. Firmware 1.9 is required.
  8. OnCam is is the only one that I know that works.... I got one today but haven't had time to test
  9. I have the Sony and Axis cameras and today I will have the OnCam camera. Sony does dewarp but motion detection doesn't work. Axis doest work with motion but no client side dewarping as ACC pulls multiple streams from the camera. The Oncam will dewarp in ACC and motion detection I was told does work. I will follow up later today after I test it.

    External camera shootout

I would check to see if you can mount the Vivotek camera the way you want. I haven't installed this camera but looking at the mount I am not sure it would be able to mount this under the eve. I would stick with Axis or Samsung.
  11. Good luck with that setup. Your customers must have a fat upload pipe with unlimited data for this to work. Not to mention your head office will need a huge download pipe for all 20-30 locations to stream to.

    Flir's Rapid Recap

Flir is licensing a product from BriefCam. You can add Briefcam to most major VMS solutions as another service for additional costs (license per camera) or you can use Briefcam to sift through exported video. Think police departments that are given a lot of video from an event. They can feed AVI files into Briefcam. http://briefcam.com/ t-WigkKZGrA

    New Axis Q6114-E PTZ

It doesn't look very rugged in the pics.

    New Axis Q6114-E PTZ

I was going to order one to test. Let me know how it works for you

    Autotracking dome

I have never seen this done reliably. Would love to hear your results when you find a solution.
  16. Most NVR/VMS systems have a "camera disconnect" event that you use to trigger alerts or emails.
  17. I would check with Genetec to see if they support the DVRs. Milestone might be another option. Both are paid and enterprise level.
  18. IV? I thought you were an Avigilon specialist. In our testing of a number of VMS systems, IndigoVision did have among the lowest latencies - on the order of 150-170ms. It does tend to provide the lowest latencies using their own hardware, including cameras and encoders, but also has tested relatively low with Axis, Sony and Bosch cameras. Their cameras are not cheap, though. 720P fixed are on the order of $800+ and their Ultra 2k cameras (1080p) are on the order of $1,300+. BTW, Avigilon tested the worst, at least using their own analog encoders (>500ms). If latency is important then then indigovision is a good choice but if you're looking for ease of use solution that is easy to deploy and manage then Avigilon better option. Alot has changed since you tested Avigilon years ago and even some of your feature requests have been added

    hd-sdi to analog avigilon

What cameras do you have? There are different flavors of SDI and there are encoders like this one from Dahua which would record the HD stream. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/nvs0404hdc-a-836.html

    tvlogic - avigilon

Post a link to the cameras please.
  21. FYI this HD Encoder from Dahua will work with Avigilon but motion detection does not work and you need a license per camera not encoder. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/nvs0404hdc-a-836.html
  22. We manage large Avigilon systems currently up to 1000 cameras for one of our customers. Once you get up over 100 cameras managing the system becomes very important. Couple of issues using Hikvision cameras in ACC: Motion detection is configured in the cameras not in ACC meaning you have to log into every camera and set it up unlike Avigilon cameras which are all configured in the client software via a right click. No pre or post motion detection unless you have Enterprise and configure alarms for each camera This is the biggest issue: No pixel search. For large systems which users search video everyday pixel motion search is a HUGE time saver and one of the main reasons we see customers use Avigilon end to end solutions.
  23. That's why I recommended Indigovision.
