  1. Browsed but didn't see topic so joined the forum. After neighbors broken into, researching for personal installation...but never see this addressed on manufacturer's site FAQ or other articles and forums. 911 assumes that you are in the area when something is happening to you, but with a security system that may not be the case. You may be witnessing real time a break-in in your home from anywhere in the world and need to contact the authorities "back home" where the event is occuring. Dialing 911 would get you emergency services where you are physically located, and international, 911 may not even be a valid number for emergency services. Do 911 operations have a local 10 digit number you can call which understandably may have international charges if dialed from overseas? The next question has to do with system protection. Personally, Internet provider is cable company with the wire fully exposed on the outside. Snip...the network is shut down. Likewise, master power switch is next to the meter - raise the cover and flip the switch turns off all power, shutting down network and cameras. For cable, should I feed it through conduit to limit direct access? Likewise, with DVR/NVR systems and modem/routers, should they be plugged into back up battery UPS systems to provide at least 20 minutes run time when thieves think they shut the power off. You keep recording, remotely viewing and uploading to cloud...even if they eventually find and take the DVR/NVR. Obviously, if the UPS system has a power off alarm would want to disable it rather than draw thieves to the most vulnerable equipment. I am just surprised these topics don't seem to be addressed.
