Dueling Hamsters!

Unfortunately like most Linksys routers, the WRT54G does not have the public/private port feature.
D-Link routers like the DI-624 do support this feature. They call it virtual server.

you need to check and see other site pricing before calling me dealer 3,I did. Reputable dealers were nowhere near your price. Why do you think Scott first questioned you? Your card prices are substantially lower than most. Come on, you must know that. Your statement that “everyoneâ€

Just to nitpick, but MSRP's are not enforcable. I can not require a dealer to sell at a set price. Nor can Geovision. If someone wants to try to get by on a 10% markup then it's their right. If I attempt to retailate punitively (reducing thier discount, ect) then I would be invoilation of price fixing laws.But you can enforce MAP (minimum advertised pricing).
Only on the card and software. Once a dealer puts it in a machine, I can't enforce what he says the price is. Now I can do my best to discourage that practice but the tools I have to do it are extremely limited. I'm not saying that Geovision's practices are good for the industry, or good for installers. I'm not saying I approve of their bussiness practices. I'm simply pointing out that the options to actully do anything about it are limited.
But I think that it is the cards we are talking about.

I agree to an extent with thomas, a distributor and manufacturer cannot tell the dealer what to charge for a product.but the actual pricing should have a certain area, like for example, let' say the I-view, end user price for the 8 channel card is around 550-600. If dealer 1 has it for $539.99, and Dealer 2 has it for $579.99, then just go with obviously the cheapest one, but, then we have Dealer 3, and he has it for $399.99, then we have a problem, because what that does is to lower the market value of the product.
cctvshack is Dealer 3.

YOu are a NY'ker, from Long Island, Italian, so that means that you are very .."OPINIONATED", while myself, I'm also a NY'ker, From CORONA, QUEENS, and WHITE PLAINS, WESTCHESTER COUNTY, and DOMINICAN, which means that I am a hard headed mother*****. So neither of us are going to win
Check your PM.
Maybe you just didn't phrase it properly but you are walking a dangerous line with ethnic remarks like that. You need to keep those "opinions" to yourself.

Everyone has their hot buttons.

Changing the ports is easy. Look for a router that allows setting of private and public port ranges.It's hard to tell from the data sheets which routers offer this feature. Any mainstream routers come to mind that you know of?

Oh well..........you're the boss Herm, whatever you think is best for the forum.
-
I thought you were staying out of it.

I'm not sure why you're not getting the latest client downloaded though. Have you tried uninstalling the old version?

Guys, think about it. Why would anyone want to advertise on this forum if people were posting prices? I know there is only one advertiser now, our host I assume, but Larry has stated that advertising is in the future. This forum is growing every day. Who is going to support it, you? Should this be a fee-based membership where you can post pricing?
If price posting is allowed this forum will degenerate into a bunch of shills hawking their products. It will drive away the most precious resources here, the reputable dealers who unselfishly share their valuable insight for all.
You want to discuss pricing? Email, PM, call, whatever. Looking for the lowest price, try Froogle, Nextag, etc. If you look at other major forums the rules are very similar. Nothing radical here.
You all enjoy the FREE use of this board. You enjoy the invaluable information and help with your problems but whine when rules are enforced. Come on, enjoy this forum for what it is. There is so much here that you can’t find anywhere else.
Go ahead and let the flames begin……..

I don't think any dealers have the dongles yet.
-
Obviously you still have the old client if that is what you are seeing.
I have the 720x480 & 720x576 De-interlace settings.
-
They are at least using the 7.0 version of the webcam client. I don’t know if that is possible without having the new software loaded on the server.
If you click on the quality button you will notice the new dropdown list.
-
OK, lets summarize:
1PPS = 1FPS
2IPS = 1FPS
E=mc²
All agreed?
-
Looks like cctvsentry is now using the new 7.0 software.
Teddybear, yes this is how it should look.
CCTV_Australia, have you used the new software yet?
-
Actually I lied; Nuvico states 120pps
I know all about frames and fields, the confusion is the interpretation of images per second and pictures per second.
My understanding was that field=picture, therefore 2pps=1f(frame)ps.
Is this not correct?
-
So Teddybear, how does your video compare to the link that G22 posted?
-
Doesn't 2ips=1fps?
-
Assuming that the Vitek VT-DVR400 and the Nuvico NVDV-400N/P are one and the same, which specs are correct? Vitek states that the live display speed is 120fps and Nuvico states 120ips. Same with recording & playback; Vitek 60fps, Nuvico 60ips. Is Vitek fudging the numbers or is Nuvico misprinting?

good karma and a good macheteIs a machete the preferred weapon of choice down by you?
When I was driving around St. Lucia it seemed like everyone was carring one
guns are illegal here, like 6 months for every bullet and a couple years for the gun .. machetes, well anyone can have them ..
Plus, up here we like to kill from afar. We’ve lost the intimacy of the good old days. I guess you guys still have that up close and personal thing going.
Kind of gives you a warm and bloody, I mean fuzzy feeling inside.
IR Extenders for Remote Control for DVR Card

Universal Remote Control http://www.universalremote.com/ makes some great remotes. They will learn IR in the 15kHz to 100kHz range. The least expensive one retails for about $149. It also has RF capabilities with the optional receiver
If you decide to wire sensors instead, Cat5 would be fine. You will also need an IR connecting block. Xantech, Niles, Sonance and Audioplex are good choices.
