  1. have you been able to solve this?

It looks like the correct firmware might have been:

    General_DVR0404LF-AS_3104H_Eng_N_V2.608.0000.7.R.20170312

But if you can't see your device on the network, you probably can't telnet into it.

If you open it up and look carefully at the board, you will see printed on the circuit board RS232

It will have 3 or 4 pins.

Get an RS232-TTL module, find it on ebay.

I think you can transfer new firmware through using a null modem cable. I'm not 100% sure about this.

I don't know the steps, but I'm sure there are guys here that can do a firmware upload this way.

have a look at this guy's video

  2. looking at the http://www.dahuasecurity.com website, I see:

    DH_HCVR5108H_Eng_P_V3.200.0001.30.R.20170807

In the applicable models, it shows: HCVR5104HC as one of the units. I'm not sure if this is yours

I'm unsure what the HC stands for?

The NTSC version is on the website there as well (probably the one you had factory installed):

    DH_HCVR5108H_Eng_N_V3.200.0001.30.R.20170807

    use at your own discretion

since it is branded ADT, it would probably be easier to call ADT and see if they have their own "general" firmware variant of the dahua ones.

    Good luck.

  3. you probably have:

    DH_HCVR5x04-S2_Eng_P_V3.200.0004.13.R.20171021

    in your system from factory.

On the www.dahuasecurity.com website, I can see the following firmware, same timestamp however:

    DH_HCVR5x04-S2_SpnEng_NP_V3.200.0004.13.R.20171021

The 'NP' should allow you to toggle between NTSC/PAL.

    www.dahuasecurity.com

    Global -> International -> Support ->Download center -> Firmware.

Post back here how it went, good luck.

This DVR has a 9-pin RS 232 port on the back.

Can we use this with a null modem cable to connect it directly to a computer for telnet access? (console access) for example if there is a need to update firmware a different way?

I noticed in your other post you mentioned that all newer DVRs don't have telnet function anymore, I haven't tried yet with this model.
