  1. Hello all, I recently aquired an 8 channel DVR from my local classifieds for low price. I currently have 4 cameras connected to it, and slapped a couple 750GB hard drives in it, one read write and the other redundant. Video is CIF@30fps VBR 550kkbps-1024kbps(approx cant remember exact bitrates). while its working i am trying to locate some remote software for it, and possibly update th hie firmware if there is a newer version available make and model on the chassis is DVR-08240 by Techvision. it appears to be a rebranded Dahua DVR as it has a motherboard with a Dahua part number 1604-LB V3.2 I have remote veiwing working on my pc and laptop with a universal CMS software i found online. i am having trouble getting remote viewing working well on android. gDMSS "works" but take near 3 minutes to log in and buffer the 4 streams. I know its not a network issue because the CMS on my PCs load instantly both on wired and wireless connections. This is all purely local right now. i have not put the DVR on the internet as i am not confident in the security of the current firmware so right now it is hiding behind the firewall and i will likely set up a VPN for off site viewing to mitigate security risk as this is an older DVR and likely to not reveive and new security updates for the firmware. So my questions are. what is this thing? i cannot seem to find anything but the techvision manual online, no other usefull info using either the techvision or dahua part number. is there something better than gDMSS to use on this for mobile viewing? i have tried ipcam viewer, i can grab an image but seems to constantly buffer and only updates a frame every 1-2 seconds. i have also tried tinycam and cant get anything to show. not a network issue. works fine on my pc over wired or wireless, the 4 channels average approx 2.5Mbps, i have a netgear managed gigabit switch with 38Gbps backplane handling network traffic, access point is HP MSM460, and router is custom hardware running pfsense. is there a known firmware repository for older dahua equipment?
