  1. i'm planning to use ip cameras on a ship yard. it has an area of 1 square kilometer. which connection do you prefer wireless or fiber optic? if wireless what equipments do i need ? if fiber optics will be used what equipments will be used?

  2. We also noticed that frames are being dropped very often.

What can cause the frame skippings and how to cure it?

There are some evidence that it could be due to poor analogue video signal input at encoder end, networking issue, or bandwidth.

it might be a bandwidth issue here. you must consider the data traffic for all the switch/hubs from the encoder to the decoder. are you familiar with the Qos(quality of service)? if your switch hub and devices are Qos ready, you can set the priority for you bandwidth.

how many encoders and decoders are you currently using? are you already using Gigabit Lan?

  3. how can check that my dvr is connected to the internet and yes i am using dydns domain.

try to ping the domain name or ip address to see if it is online. then try to connect using video server e

if using a pc in spain do u need to install the ap software on that pc to connect to the dvr in the UK?

you can if you want to use the software to view. you can also use internet explorer but you need to add it to your trusted sites and set the security to low.

Can i make a web site that displays the dvr live video fotage?

    not sure about this.

  4. ok. just shared what i experienced till now i don't know what went wrong. strange

The runs are to long for 2 pairs of the 4 pair.

Can you not run a second cat5 cable? or upgrade it to a cat 6 cable, that will work maybe..

that's what i did. i run a second cat5 cable. the original plan was to run four cat5 cables and utilize all the wires then the distorted pictures came up. even if the run for the (blue or brown pair ) was short the picture was distorted. so after figuring out that only green and blue pair is good. we rerun another four wire. only green and orange pair were used the picture was good. at first we thought it was the balun because the run was short. then we tried to swap the good cameras and it was still the same. then we tried switching the wire and we got it.

since the the four pair inside the cat5e have same length. it should work for all the color since only the color of the insulator is not the same. but unfortunately it did not. strange isn't it?

  5. everything is ok .just got your pm . sorry i was not aware that you created a topic on test bench.

competition here is tough. also most of the products here are for low end market. people tend to look at the price rather than the quality.

just done a 3 day job on a supermarket here. had problems with the CAT5E its weird that only the green and orange pair have good picture quality while the rest are distorted and bad.

how are you scorpion? how's florida ? how's your business?

  6. i'm using passive balun from china. i didn't use any tool. i just connect the camera to a pair and check the video to check if it is good. what tool are you using? even at short run it seems that the pair of blue and brown has a problem. i don't know if this was caused by the cable. have you experienced this? have you tried using up all the 4 pairs?

blue, orange, green and brown have a all diverted twist.

You can see it clearly on my picture the deliverance between orange en blue:

Here a other picture, green and blue heve the same twist:

    ?action=view&current=HPIM0320.jpg

yes there is a twist. did you tried running 4 cams on a single cat5e?

  7. i'm using passive balun from china. i didn't use any tool. i just connect the camera to a pair and check the video to check if it is good. what tool are you using? even at short run it seems that the pair of blue and brown has a problem. i don't know if this was caused by the cable. have you experienced this? have you tried using up all the 4 pairs?

  8. you mean you can connect to the dvr from one computer using dyndns address ? and the other computer can't connect using the same setup? are both computer on different network from the dvr? did you check if you have internet connection on the dvr where you can't connect?
