    GE (Kalatel) - NAVCO

With all these diff rebrands, sales pitches, etc... I doubt I will trust anyone to buy a DVR from now. The one I like the best so far though just from their web site... is March Networks.

Ya, made booboo. Webgate has nothing to do with it
  3. Oh well that's ok then I guess.
  4. ...with da support from Bangalore!
  5. You beat to me to the bestest quote rory. Oh well, since they are the best, I can longer look at GEO since they are only 'better'.
  6. uh oh... they are the "BEST IN THE WORLD MARKET".

    Playback software issues

Ummm, close the ports you don't need or should not have open in the first place and run up2date, yast or whatever daily and use iptables at the least. Of course there is the chair-keyboard interface problem. In that case, they should prob not be running Linux anyway. Better yet, use Linux embedded, and have a firewall in place regardless via a DSL/Cable router for example running NAT with no DMZ.
  8. Sounds good. I am thinking of my own BUBBADVR with the Best Digital Surveillance System software.

One more reason to use Linux.

    Hunt DVR's

Anyone know of any reputable dealers in Canada by chance that offer Hunt DVR's? The one I was given so far actually sells Webgates as well... http://www.eyesoniccctv.com/home/home.php Gets a bit confusing with all theese dealers, rebranding, etc. Thx.

    Hunt DVR's

Anyone know anything about this company? Are they reputable? How bout the DVR below? http://www.huntcctv.com/4%20channel%20DVR.htm It is discouraging to see that http://www.huntcctv.com/profile1.htm gives a 404 err and http://www.huntcctv.com/profile.htm says Under Construction. Not very impressive unless they are a new company. Where does one purchase their DVR's? Directly from 'Hunt'?

    Interesting GV combo card coming

From the ones I have seen so far, I do not mind the one that comes with the Hunt DVR's, 'DVR Manager Monitor' I believe. I also like the S/W from Video Insight (from the pics I have seen anyway). I am sure there are many others. It would be nice if some DVR software was able to be checked out in 'offline' mode and not require a DVR be present. No, I am not a dealer. I am an End User, and we currently have a GeoVision GV-800 system at work that I setup. I am just not happy with the GEO GUI that's all. The constant jerky motion for both playback and recording is annoying at times as well but tolerable. No doubt, the PC just needs a faster CPU as it is only a 2.4GHz. If GEO has such good H/W, I am sure they can do even 'better' with a S/W makeover. The blinking eyes in the top corner should go for starters.

    Greetings Everyone

Aren't they all 'Tribal' as well?

    Interesting GV combo card coming

No... but unless GeoVision changes their GUI to something more professional I would prob not consider it myself even though it sounds good H/W wise.

    Hunt DVR's

I wonder what version/dist/kernel of Linux the embedded run? Can the firmware be upgraded?

    Linux is you friend.

    Hunt DVR's

I was just looking at their demo. Although the cam quality is not good, I kinda like the software (DVR Manager Monitor) to download and view video. Seems like a nice clean simple layout. No crappy GEO type GUI. What am I lookin at though... is this Hunt's office? Just wonder what the unit is like in person though. I still don't like the fact of the Profile/About Us page not existing.

    DIGiMERGE?

Anyone familiar with their products such as the VCD304 below? Good? Bad? So So? I like the idea of embedded Linux. http://www.digimerge.com/cgi-bin/new_digimerge/product.cgi?uid=59 It has an x86 Geode? 266MHz CPU w/128MB RAM.
  25. +1 on the Linux solution. I personally do not like Windows. The 2 I have encountered so far are March Networks and DIGiMERGE, both Linux embedded. Perhaps take a look at them. http://www.marchnetworks.com/ http://www.digimerge.com/ I received a quote today of $1780.00 CDN on the DigiMerge VCD304 w/160GB HD... but that is a 4-channel. March Networks quote was much more... plus prices seem higher in Canada as well. There are so many pathetic looking DVR websites, that it is hard to choose. Website first impressions are a major factor in my decision making.
