  1. I am looking for a microphone that will work on the DM110/160 Sony IP Camera. The camera has a 1/8" plug for audio in. I tried a cheapo computer headset and the microphone worked well. Unfortunately I have to put this in a commercial building and I can't really use a computer headset mic. I have also tested a LOUROE mic. It is so overdriven, the audio is distorted. I tried adjusting the POT on the LOUROE unit as well as the gain control built into the Sony camera with no luck. I need to mount the mic on a ceiling or wall. Any suggestions?
  2. Thanks for the info in both posts. I had never seen EnGenius products and it looks like it might worth a try. I just placed and order for one to try at my house. For < $90.00 I am not risking much. Worst case, it will cover my back yard if I cannot use it for the installation. As far as frame rate, compression, etc....I obviously didn't think my original post all the way through and list that. I'd use MPEG4 and no audio. I'd like to get the highest frame rate possible. I am going to push it when testing and go for 30 fps to start and then lower it to get the desired functionality.
  3. I need to connect four (4) SNC-RZ25N cameras to a network. All will be mounted away from a building. There is power on the poles that they will be mounted on. I was thinking of using the wireless card for that series of camera in each of them and having them connect to a single wireless access point. Once on the network, I'd probably use the Real Shot software for monitoring and recording. Does anyone have any experience trying a set up like this? I am concerned that 4 cameras trying to hit a single access point might be too much and I'll end up with choppy video.
  4. They have an existing DVR but it looks like that will be going away. I can't find a way to do it using that old DVR. Thanks
  5. I have an SNC-RZ25 camera with a wireless card. There is no way to run a coax cable to it. I can access it over the wireless network. I want to feed the video from this camera into a DVR that has a BNC input. Is there a device that will allow me to do this?

    IR Illuminator floodlight

sawbones: Thats exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for taking the time to do that testing. I'd consider myself to be a 'hobbiest' at this stuff. I have the Sony SNC-RZ25N up at my house. I want to add some fixed cameras and now know that getting cameras with the IR's in the dome is a bad choice. I found some vandal resistant cameras with the IRs around the lens but no dome. I think I will be going with those. The IR's from those should also help the Sony as they will be overlapping in coverage. I will probably get a few IR's to supplement the coverage. As a hobbiest, I have no intention of spending $2500 on an IR illuminator. It looks like 4 or 5 of the EBay models will work just fine. Thanks again

    cctv camera advice

Keenspec mentions that a camera with the IR "attached is not the way to go. This one appears to have just that. Is the difference that you do not want the IR's in a dome to reflect back into the lens but if they are around the lens but "unobstructed" it is ok?

    IR Illuminator floodlight

Can someone recommend an IR illuminator that acts more as a floodlight than a spot light? I have a Sony SNC-RZ25N mounted on my house. I would like to light up my front yard with an IR illuminator so when I spin the camera, everything is covered. I bought a IR Illuminator off EBay (cheapo) and it works great as a spot light. I can light up my neighbors house like a christmas tree. When I try to hit my front yard with it, it only lights up a small area. The area to cover is 90 feet wide and 100 feet deep. I could get a few illuminators and fan them out but I'd rather use a single one. Thanks.

    Nuvico quality

I just started helping out at work with DVR's and camera systems. I have noticed that in the last few months, several Nuvico brand DVR's have come back and we had to send them to the factory for repair. I really like the user interface on these units but seeing them keep coming in for repair has me wondering about the quality. Are they any good or are they garbage?
