Need help designing a home cctv system

Geees, I said the best way to look at the parts for system is to check EBay. Not buy the crap from EBay. I agree with all who slammed me that a qualified installer is the way to go. I will make sure to review my post better next time.

    One for the pros!

Try Eaglevision systems. Or: FXCAM IBW_2000 unit includes the following components: - High resolution ultra low lux B/W ANPR Camera - Special 2000 effective Watts infra red illuminator synchronized with the camera - High quality lens - Weather proof housing - Wall mountable bracket - Internal heating with thermostat
  3. FYI: Demundell With over 20, Net350 running, I have the same problem with the ones on the outer band locking up. I install a timer in line to power off the net350 transmitter at 05:30 and restart at 05:31 everyday. Beats going out for service calls every week.

    RS-485 to RS-422 converter

I have 20+ of the Pelco Esprit ES31C22-2W connected to a wireless system and run all over two wires for P/T/Z Don't fall for the Pelco sales pitch that they must be connected to the CM6700 or a CM9760-CDU-T. I have made this work straight from the DVR P/T/Z outputs. Also, ran this to the Video Servers, Pelconet 350 and most work fine. A few lock up's now and then.

Need help designing a home cctv system

Helen: The best way to look at a basic system is to go to ebay and type in DRV. Look at higest price. Then go down to a 16 or 4 channel system and see what all they offer. Find something is your price range. While not everything is needed, here is an idea. 16 Channel 480fps LINUX DVR Server, Keyboard & Mouse LINUX OS and DVR Software on IDE Flash Drive (pre-installed) 500' Siamese Cable Spool 32 BNC & Power Connectors QTY 16 Cameras from THIS list 16 Channel Power Box 19" LCD Monitor Printed Quick-Start Guide
  6. If you have a video card like the ATI All-In-Wonder, it has analog video in jack. You can use this by attaching a BNC adapter to the DVR to the RCA (Yellow) cables and run the video playback and a capture program. Lot of capture programs are freeware from CNET.

    catv solid or stranded?

CATV Cable is not a good idea for CCTV systems. CATV cable has an outer shielding that causes interferance. A solid center is better with 95% copper braiding. If you are installing a camera that moves (PTZ), then the stranded center conductor is better. RG-59 for under 200 meters, RG-6 for longer runs.
  9. There are several in the Super Circuits catalog. Most are around $250 for color. I use the Rapport 337, it's about $550 - $600. It has several features. PTZ, OHM, power meter and video out test pattern back to the monitor to see if the cable good and not a bad camera. The only bad thing is keeping the batteries charged. I had to make a 12VDC pack to carry in my pocket.

    Will this LCD monitor work?

As Bobby1471 said, VGA connection should give you a DVR output. But the monitor you want to use does not have any other connections besides the VGA/DVI. I have found that computer monitors using the VGA only are not the best for a detailed picture. The TVL is what you want to go for. More the better. If you look at a LCD monitor and then look at a made for CCTV monitor with a BNC inout, it's a world of differance. The LCD will work and is cheaper. Example I just picked this up on EBay for $300: Designed for the CCTV security marketplace, the Bosch MON201CL monitor includes two looping composite video inputs, two looping audio inputs, and one looping Y/C input. Additionally, this model includes an analog VGA input to accommodate the increasing use of ‘PCs’ and digital video devices in security applications. The MON201CL has been tested for compatibility of operation with analog output
  11. I have a zoom lens with 10 wires from the controller cable. When I do a search on the part number, most are Chinese links. Question: How can I find a pinout drawing for this lens? 4 wires are on one pin. Blue, Black, Red and Orange The Green and Brown are also together. Purple, Gray, White and Yellow are single pinned. The connector was from a Pelco housing. The connector is a 9 pin type. In addition, it has the Auto Iris cable, 4 pin. The full P/N is YZ-36 0136 1/2" chip. Thanks. Any help would be good.
