    cctv camera advice

hello sorry to bounce in your thread i was wondering if you go into more detail as to why the cameras with the IR around them are crap. i was thinking about buying 4 of these domes from a local dealer near my house at $45 each. these are for an indoor office space. and 2 of these bullets for outside around $80
  2. brining up an old post here.... if you screw the camera into the box cover, how do you mount the box to the walls. What type of screws do you use
  3. when installing the cameras out doors theres a few inches of exposed wiring. what do you cover the wires with to protect them from the environment and bad guys' knives

Hard drive question im a noob sorry

thanks My situation is that I've aquired my DVR system second hand and it does not have any documentation with it, and there is no model number written on the DVR. It a generic DVR with 8 ch input and no harddrives and a cd burner. when i boot the system it loads automatically to the security software. I'm pretty sure it is not windows based, i havenot seen any windows logo on startup.

    sticker

Do i have to have a sticker stating i have cameras installed in my office? do they have to be at all entrances? I just want to be within the laws of surveillance. I live in Houston, TX
  8. i have 2 of the cameras shown here, they are genereic and i dont have a model number or too many stats on it. Is the ok for outdoor usage of my front and back doors to my office. i've seen outdoor camera with a visor mounted to them, do i need one as well? how close or far from the door should i mount it?

Camera Position help for my office

thanks thats really good advise. my 2 IR cameras look like the one in this picture, its very small and basic, the packaging says it is weather proof. Where should i mount it outside? I mean should this be directly above the door, to side of the door? or off to the side of it on the building? Also, yes we do have alot of cash customers who furnish their whole house. I agree that monitoring the show room is not a priority an need one or 2 there. Should I keep the DVR in the office or put it in the garage? I'd really like to have a dedicated monitor in my office to be able to watch the doors because of blind spots when im in my office doing work.
