Remote Access Question

Recommended Posts

I tried to setup a customers home computer to remotely access their geovision camera system. I configured the ActiveX controls (and looked for firewall issues) and this is the only computer that cannot access the system remotely. I have configured many computers for this type of access with no problem. The computer is able to access the Compression Selection page, but will not allow me to select the internet connection or multi window area (grayed out) - it's almost as if the computer is not allowing the initial download to perform.

Wouldn't you know that this computer is the owner of my customers company - typical.

Thanks for any ideas!!!

Jim

Disable any AntiVirus or Firewall Security applications while you try and connect.

Add the site to the Trusted Sites group in Internet Explorer, and make sure that Trusted Sites is set to Low security.

Dear Jim,

Please try the following on the remote PC.

Open up the IE browser and change the Active X setting.

On the top of menu bar, go to Tool >> Internet Option.

Select Security tag >> click Custom Level.

You will see couple items related to ActiveX.

Please enable all of them.

Click OK to save the setting.

Sincerely,

This is basically what I recommended, but this opens up ActiveX for all sited you visit. I would recommend adding it to the Trusted Sites, and changing the ActiveX setting for that group alone.

Limited user wont be able to install ActiveX.

Log in as Admin then download and install the ActiveX, or install a client application and use Run As to login as an Admin (make sure Secondary Login service is running)

They might have other services disabled which can stop it from working also.
