Video Server E - how do I time search?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 4ch Avtech 782.

I have it set to continually record 4 cameras and OW the hard drive.

The bundled software is called Video Server E 1.0.6.6

I would like to know how to time search.

I had it up once but don't know how I did it.

It's confusing as there are 2 ways to a lot of the functions.

One way is through the interface buttons (under where it displays the pics from the cameras).

And the other way is when you click on a button top right labled SYSTEM CONFIG when you hover over it.

It's often easier to use the system config route as you can use your mouse and keyboard to input/select/change things where as the other way it's very annoying as you have to use the up and down buttons and increase values using the plus and minus buttons.

I can find time search through the buttons interface (SEARCH > TIME > ENTER > then put int the time you want to playback using the up across and+ - buttons).

BUT... I want to know how to get to it the other way!!!

I know it's there I have seen it LOL it's in a similar type screen as the network back up... but you don't have to download it to the PC's and play it back, it just jumps to the date and time you have selected plays it back within the Video Server E screen.

hope that makes sense to someone - cheers

It sounds like you know the paper with the magnifying glass icon.

Page 43 of your manual.

Press system config, and open up the DVR option.

If you look about halfway you should see SEARCH LIST

_____________________________________________________________

Here you put in the HDD Number Hit the down arrow for options.

LIST TYPE: Hit the down arrow for options.

Then press the button marked DOWNLOAD HDD LIST.

This will give you another window with all of the date time groups to select from. Press download after you make your selection.

How does that sound? Do you have a manual?

Time search isn't in search list.

Don't know why, all the other searches are - stupid isn't it.

But, good news is I've found it...

it's the little E button bottom right, when you hover over it it is called "search dvr video data".

I think the user interface with this software needs tweaking, everything is there but it could just be soo much easier.

BTW, does anyone else get a message from Avast antivirus re VSE?

Scanning of selected files

Action was completed successfully!

Virus has been detected!

File Name: video server e1.0.6.3.exe

FileID: 4

Virus Description: Win32:Adware-gen [Adw]

Same with 1.0.6.6 off Scorpion's site when I try to download it. I'm sure it's a mistake but wondered if anyone else has seen this?

When I want to go to a certain day, I go to SEARCH (the button with the paper and the magnifying glass over it) and fill in everything. When I click enter, it says "No data available" or something like that. What's wrong?

There are a few variables.

The first thing we need to determine is the question: Is it recording?

The other question would be to find out if it has the correct settings for recording.

Are you recording 24/7 ,or with motion detection?

Motion detection may not be enabled, or you have it completely masked off, and it does not "see" motion.

You may have a harddrive error of some sort, or it is not communicating with the mother board.

its possible that the date and time you are searching was overwritten with a new video or the dvr is not recording during that period
