Best frame rate for stand alone DVR?

Recommended Posts

I just upgraded the firmware on my DW-MAX standalone DVR 250gb. The continuous record time before was 15 days, now its 45 days. Not sure what all the upgrade changed but I figured out that the fps will change the amount of continuous record time.

Default on the new firmware upgrade is 10fps which gives me 45days continuous. The other options are: 3fps 134 days, 5fps 88 days, 10 fps 45 days, 15 fps 30 days, 30 fps 15 days.

My question is, what is my best option for the right fps? I'm not too familiar with fps.

FPS = Frames Per Second.

Is these FPS Per Channel or Per System?

30 FPS is considered to be realtime.

I would go with 15FPS.

well if its 30fps/camera that is "realtime" - though that is something of a relative term. DVDs run at approx 23fps(correct me if I'm off a couple frames.), that should give you an idea.

I'm of the opinion that few applications requiring a 4ch DVR require more than 7FPS.
