AVTech AVC787 IR receiver?

Recommended Posts

On this model it's separate from the DVR itself. Am I right in thinking that this is simply just a lead with sensor LED at the end or something more complicated than that?

Thanks. I would have no problem sourcing one (or making one from scratch) but I was hoping someone would know if it contains the active electronics within the remote receiver or simply just the IR sensor itself.

I'm kinda new to all this, and my receiver didn't come with the IR receiver. I have limited knowledge of electronics but will try anything once.

Can someone explain to me how I go about making one? I have an old IR receiver, I have a 3.5mm mono cable, is this right or do I need a stereo cable?

I've tried once already and it shorted out straight away as soon as I pushed a button on the remote?!

See here:

Unfortunately, unless you have the circuit diagram it's difficult to know exactly what's required. Some may just require just the sensor while others may require active electronics also. Depending on sensor type it may require a voltage, in which case a 3-wire connection would be needed.

So making one probably isn't an option? If that's the case does anyone know where I might be able to buy one from - An AVTECH ir receiver?

It's an option but more definitive information is really needed. I haven't a 3.5mm stereo jack plug I can test with, to see if there's any voltage present. If there isn't, then hopefully any IR sensor would work.

The IR receiver should be available from here:

http://www.weclonline.com/tchi/productdetail.asp?id=50128515

Although I'm not sure where they ship to.

However when I registered there (necessary to even find out the price!) I didn't get an email response (yes, I checked my spam folder), which doesn't inspire confidence.

I've just found a 3.5mm stereo jack plug in my 'junk box' so was able to find out that it does use a stereo connection. There is no voltage on the tip but there's 2mv on the other connection. At such a low voltage this would be just for a sensor device.

OK, I've tried and tried and can't make an IR receiver. I've tried buying 3.5mm IR receivers off ebay, but when they arrive they have 3 rings, I've tried doctoring a satallite remote IR sender - if anyone knows how I go about making one exactly, what is required, or where I can buy one from please let me know?

I've tried WECLONLINE and I've tried emailing the manufacturer - each to no avail.

I did notice them for sale on ebay and from ussscctv but both are the same person and will not ship to the UK

Well it may indeed require three rings - I only tested with a stereo 3.5mm plug.

I would *guess* that the circuit here is what's required, (*just* the RE148S part):

Yes, I did ask but he didn't respond when I asked if he'd make an exception for such a small item. I've a friend in Canada who'd have been able to get it for me, but with shipping and customs, the cost would be getting ridiculous.

I'm waiting to hear from a UK firm who may be able to help, but you'd probably have to buy the remote control also.

I thought exactly the same thing about them just mailing it out anyway, especially when there appears to be UK demand and they could charge what they liked.

I have family in california - other option would be to order 2 to be posted to him, he could forward them on as a 'gift of minimal value', i could forward one to you, and then we'd split the cost 2 ways. Would still be quite dear at around £30 - might be a last option when we've exhausted all other options.

If i make any progress I'll let you know,

Pete

Okay Pete, thanks, I will do likewise. I'd expected to hear back from the UK firm by now to inform me of a price, but nothing as yet.

If anyone's interested, at long last I've now discovered a UK source. If anyone requires one (the IR remote control and IR receiver) feel free to PM me for the seller's details.

I'm also in need of a IR receiver for the AVC787.

I see this thread is four years old, has another source been found?

I've had no luck sourcing one online.
