Is it necessary to have an external power supply for system with 8 network (IP) cameras connected with CAT-5 line to one router?

If the cameras are all PoE devices, and the switch is rated to handle that much power then you should have no problems sending power and data over the cat5/cat6 cable. Just make sure you verify the power consumption of the cameras, and the max per port and total on the switch.

It should be well worked if the power consumption of cameras are within supply...

Thanks for the help guys. I picked up a Netgear FS726TP with 24 ports for cheap that has a 100w power budget. I'll put that behind the firewall for PoE and hope that issue is resolved. Thanks.
