dumb embarrassing question

I have no problem hooking up cameras to DVR's and timelapse, but what am I doing wrong trying to hook up a plain old VCR to a camera, why can I not make it work.

Thats what I figured,but nope.I tried four different VCRs.Do they have to be set to a certin channel?

gawd its been like 6 years since i last used a VCR, but if you are using the RCA in, then using the RCA out would just work. If you are using RCA in, then TV out to the TV, then it would need to be set on channel 3 or 4 selectable on the VCR ..

You have to tell the VCR to look at the video input, not the tuner. Usually this is either on the remote or is in the menu setup. Should work no problem with a standard video camera being fed into the video RCA jack input.

Not sure what I did, but it is working now. I thank all of you for helping out with my embarasing question. Like rory I have not used a regular VCR in ages. I know it should not have been that diffacult. maybe it was just to simple.
