Hi Santa was good to me and brought me a notebook for Christmas

I am able to view my cctv remotely on my current laptop running Vista

but I cant set up the notebook (running Win 7 Starter) it will not let me install Webrec.exe I have enabled signed/unsigned active x also enabled initialize and script active x controls (as previously done for Vista) but no change

I am aware I cannot run explorer 8 login page loads OK but the camera viewing page is disjointed

My DVR is a DVR 365 Compact

any help would be appreciated

is there any other program I could use for remote viewing? (preferably free !!)

Dont think win 7 starter has xp compatability mode

and yes I want to install then run it

Im also unsure if I can install IE7 over IE8 or at least get rid of IE8

if I cant then theres no way I can run my CCTV remote viewing

with that program

you could try a program ive had to use in the past, even on WINE on Mac

its called "Multiple IE".

just select the version you want to install, it allows you to run multiple versions on your systems as it redirects the registry settings:

Mozilla Firefox (another free browser) might work had good success when newer versions on IE wont load a embeded web page. Just make sure you click yes when you connect to the DVR and it tries to load the java files.

I assume your using Sightboss until they release an update you probably wont be able to get the installer to run.

I think its limited to the ultimate edition but i may stand corrected.

either way, it still means running another virtual OS, while compatibility mode is more of a virtual application, faster.

Did you try multiple IE?

PM me the link and I will see if I can grab the ActiveX for you and put that up as a separate installer outside of the web browser - that way it should work even when there are issues with the web browsers.

I checked the Microsoft website; it is limited to Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate.
