I see alot of cameras for sale. Are the no name cameras that claim to have sony chips in them just as good as true Sony camera.

Well, the thing is that SONY sells their chipsets to other companies, just remember, When you buy an Acura, you are actually getting a Honda, and paying extra for the acura name.

 

So it's the same concept

Even Sony is not as good as prople think they are.

 

But no, the difference is the no names have infurior power boards, and less tech support and less warranty. You will get a better picture from a True Sony camera, normally, but not just that, the Sony will 'generally' last longer. However they have a good name, but there are other brands that have a better selection and better cameras, than them.

 

They have some sweet Camcorders though! )

You might want to repost your question in the camera section. Just an FYI though, a Sony chip doesn't mean Sony quality in the camera. Plus Sony makes different quality and grades of chips and they keep the best for themselves.

One point, Sony make different grades of their ccds accross many models and they usually keep the best ones that they make for themsleves so the truthg would be for low end gear it makes very little difference but for the high end then buying a true sony would be well worth it.
