Need ideas for housing a security DVR system...

Recommended Posts

We're doing a job where we are going to house a security DVR, 2 RF modulators, and a power supply in a semi-finished attic...

The client is a "little" over-protective and wants it all housed in a locking rack of some kind. The monitor can be out in the open.

I'm thinking of using a Middle Atlantic DVR lockbox (DBLX). Wall-mounted with the monitor and mouse on top.

Problem is the RF mods and power supply wont fit.

Anybody have a suggestion for a rack product (DVR can be shelf mounted) that will house the whole system as well as properly ventilate?

Thanks!

Skip the attic, it's too hot... tell him to jackhammer through the slab in the basement, dig a 4x4x4' hole, line it with reinforced concrete with rebar on 6" centers, then put a 3" thick bolted steel trap door over it... there should be plenty of room in there for the system, it will keep cooler underground, and it should survive a nuclear blast, let alone vandals...

For the housing, try a gun safe with holes drilled for ventilation and add a static pressure fan.

If customer is "concerned" with the integrity of the wire, approached it as a UL-Certified Burglary installation.
