maledictions 0 Posted September 13, 2010 Hi Anybody use the HDD WDC EARS type of drive for DVR ? (specially AvTech brand) what is EARS : http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/wd-4k-sector,2554-2.html I reluctant to use these type of drive. the test I have done, using WindowsXP, is not good. slow at the performance (even after using WDC tools to align the sectors). even on windows 7 still very slow (using long format, regular drive formatted a lot faster on same size) WD claimed that linux will not have problem with the drive. not sure if the linux on the AVTECH DRV will support it.
