(iOS/iPad) iDMSS HD

Recommended Posts

Just hit the app store a few days ago for 9.99. Anyone tried it yet? My feed on my iPad is horribly pixelated and I'm hoping it will be better with a native app.

This is/was the latest one for the iOS

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/idmss-t/id486739396?mt=8

Do you have the link to the HD one?

That one apparently is for the iPad only?

Anyway they said there is a new one coming out with playback like the gDMSS.

Probably end of this month or beginning of next.

Reason its pixelated now is because its connecting in extra stream.

Although I noticed its even more pixelated than on a PC in extra stream.

Thats the default stream the mobile phones use.

As far as I know there is no way to change that option in the apps.

I guess in the HD version they must connect to the main stream now.

In desktop software and browser activeX you can choose which to use.

Thanks for the quick reply, rory. I may try out the HD version today.

Just got the app for my iPad. Wow, the picture difference from the 'pro' version is huge. No noticeable pixelization where before it was horrible. Granted I'm testing on my wifi network but I'm impressed.

It's a tad buggy with the touch sensitivity being off and it puts up a memory error if I toggle through too many Cams in a row.

The price is super high for an app at $10, but I suppose it's worth it for the quality increase.

they must be connecting in main stream.

can you change the stream quality/encoding in the app itself?

You can edit the stream quality but not the bitrate or encoding. You can see up to 16 cams at once too and do all the other view toggles ala watching it on a monitor.

These guys ought to give you a free copy since you're a vendor.

The idmss-t hd app for iPad (only) is the biggest improvement to date. Significant features are:

-view recorded clips, in addition to live view. To my knowledge, this is the first app for Dahua DVRs that allows for playback. That's a HUGE feature

- ability to change camera configurations (quality, fps, bitrate, camera name)

- push notifications: you are supposed to be able to set motion triggered alarms that will push a notification to the device that will automatically load the recorded clip. I haven't been able to get that to work yet however.

In answer to previous post about pixelation occurring, the remote viewing apps ALL use the extra stream, not the main stream. The default quality settings on the extra stream are for QCIF. To significantly improve the image clarity, change the quality to CIF. This will use more bandwidth as well, so you may need to lower your frame rate as well. I set all my installations to CIF @ 3 fps and typically don't have any issues with that.
