Aver EH1004H does not support Pelco-D OSD?

I purchased an Aver EH1004H Nano DVR - and hoped to control the menu/settings via the DVR, which 'supports Pelco-D.'

Problem is I cannot get the DVR to tigger or control the camera (launch the on screen display menu).

 

I originally posted in cameras - thinking that the issue was with the CNB-VF24.

 

After replacing the camera via RMA, I received a reply from Aver tech support stating:

 

"Our presets don’t go higher than 16 and I believe that the Pelco protocols require something in the 90s to execute OSD."

This doesn't make sense to me.

Why wouldn't a DVR support Pelco-D protocols?

 

I'd appreciate any/all input on this.

Additional info:

I connected a wire pair from a CAT-5E cable as follows:

DVR Tx+ -> Camera RS485 +

DVR Tx- -> Camera RS485 -

I checked & matched the camera ID and baud rates.

not many DVRs will give you setup control from there 485 connection. you could use the CNB remote unit.

Why *wouldn't* I want to have access to the settings of the camera without climbing a ladder?

 

Isn't part of the point of making the OSD remotely accessible to USE it?

it depends on which CNB camera you have. but OSD is used for setup once set thats it.

 

which camera do you have ?

CNB VCB-24VF

 

The camera supports OSD via RS485 to the DVR (using PTZ controls)

 

I figured if it was setup for this - it would be used in that way to fine tune advance settings after the camera is initially mounted/aimed/focused.

 

Why else would it be there?
