drain on server resources

Recommended Posts

Are any of the NVR programs less taxing on server resources (memory processor power , video card , size of recorded video files etc. Does everyone use the same codecs and require about the same processing power>

Find software that lets the camera do the motion detection. This way the software is not constantly evaluating video from many cameras for video motion detection. I use ACTi NVR which does this but only works with their cameras. It's why I stopped using BlueIris, it was just sucking the CPU dry.

The other thing that makes a difference is whether the client runs on the same system (like it does with Blue Iris). NVR only software tends to use lower CPU, due to not having to decode and display the video.

I had good luck with the free version of Milestone. It didn't meet other needs for me, but it used CPU resources lightly.
