What is the difference between VCM-24VF and VBM-24VF

Recommended Posts

I currently have a few VBM-24VF cameras in my system and I love them especially for their low light performance. However I recently had one fail and need to order a replacement. I'm just trying to figure out the difference between the VBM-24VF and VCM-24VF? Is the only difference the base of the housing?

Yep, its the housing. From my understanding the first three letters in the CNB line are the housing, the next 3/4 are the camera model, so anything with the -24VF has the same camera. There are generational issues as well, but all else being equal......

The VBM is going to be much lower profile.

VCM-24VF: SURFACE/FLUSH MOUNT

VBM-24VF: SURFACE MOUNT ONLY, IP66

Then there's:

VCM-24VFH - SURFACE/FLUSH MOUNT and has a heater

VCM-24VD - SURFACE/FLUSH MOUNT but 0.05LUX where the others are 0.005LUX

VBM-24VD - SURFACE MOUNT ONLY, IP66 and also 0.05LUX

All other specs appear to be the same.

the 2G models are IP67 rated.

VCM - no IP rating, Surface/Flush Mount

VBM - IP66 rated, Surface Mount Only

VBM 2G - IP67 rated, Surface Mount Only

CNB would do well to put all this stuff on some sort of decoder page. I'm sure it's pretty frustrating for everyone new to the line.

Yeah, they have catalogs to download, but you need to read through the specs and compare models to figure out what's different. That's what I just did. Would be nice to see the specs common to all, then the differences next to each model, or highlighted in a different color.

Rory has some pictures of a painted VBM housing in this post:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21952&start=75

I posted some pictures of the VCM housing showing how it flush mounts vs. surface mount, in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22339

There are some pics from CNB's site further down that page showing the VBM and VCM housings on wall-pendant mounts, where you can clearly see the difference in design.

VCM - no IP rating, Surface/Flush Mount

VBM - IP66 rated, Surface Mount Only

The VCMs are IP65 rated.

Thanks. I stand corrected. I didn't see that in the spec sheet I was looking at, but looked again and saw the IP65 listed on another description.
