Bosch DiBos with 3rd party IP cameras

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

I need some help. We have a Bosch 19inch unit with Dibos v8.7 loaded. I have heard numerous of times that I can only buy Bosch IP cameras as thats the only cameras that will work.

Is there a way to make other branded IP cameras work on this system? I've spoken to a BOSCH guy and he says that it is possible with SOME IP cameras. But he can't tell me which. It's a Hit or Miss thing. I've tried a HikVision 2mp IP Camera, doesn't work.

From what I have read it's a problem with the decoding of the MPEG4 stream? Can't you get something that sits in between the camera and the bosch unit that can decode the stream to make it Bosch friendly?

Or I will need to remove the dibos software and get something else that supports the bosch analogue capture cards and ip cameras.

Any ideas?

Hi

DiBos v8.7 works with old models ARECONT VISION cameras (jpeg megapixel cameras) and old Bosch MPEG4 cameras (You can't use h.264 stream).

If You like DiBos philosophy You may try to add second server with Bosch Recording Station software. New version 8.10 support ONVIF cameras. Please contact with Bosch dealer and ask him for demo version Bosch Recording Station software. Bosch has two type BRS demo. Try demo BRS with new ip camera.

More details You may find in release note BRS 8.10

http://resource.boschsecurity.com/documents/Release_Note_enUS_9812095883.pdf

From one client software (BRS Receiver) You may connect with DiBos 8.7 and BRS 8.10 server at the same time.

Good Luck

As far as I remember you may add any cameras via http url request of JPEG. Do you understend?

You should find or ask your distributor/vendor for IP Cameras API. There you will find something like http://IP address/stream1/jpeg.jpg - it is not exact url, just for understanding.

Thanks, I also tried that. Unfortunately I couldn't get it working. Bosch in SA isn't really much help as they know I'm going to use other cameras. And the installers just say you can't use other cameras on bosch systems. So I'm between a rock and a hard place...but will see. thanks anyway.

DiBos 8.7 not support ONVIF and You can't upgrade to 8.10 (BRS).

Bosch Recording Station software and Bosch Recording Station Appliance (hardware with software) could work with http jpeg cameras but if You have ip camera with h.264 streaming I'm think that better solution is use ONVIF with h.264 for fixed cameras (without PTZ).

Please ask dealer for BRS-BASE-04A license. This is cheapest license for 4pcs cameras.

Good Luck
