Need Some Advice With Exterior Mounting

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

In the past...when mounting external cameras, I've routed my power/video cable inside the wall cavity.

Now I'm challenged to install exterior dome cameras without entering the wall cavity because the house is +100 years old. It's not worth the risk of disturbing the electrical wiring within the walls. My only option seems to be running conduit 12' vertically up the side of the house from the basement sill plate. The problem is what kind of termination box do I use? Do I mount the dome to the termination box? I planned on using surface mount domes?

Does anyone have pics of surface mount domes using conduit boxes?

Thanks!

Most domes have threaded holes so you can come up from the lower part of the building with conduit and put a

connector on the end of the conduit and thread it directly into the camera.
