radarthis 0 Posted May 4, 2013 I am very familiar with analog systems however I'm a newbie to PTZ cams and have a really basic question. I am planning to integrate a couple of Pelco Spectra IV analog PTZ's into my setup. I noticed that the Pelco's have on-board motion detection whereby you can configure motion detection areas for each preset. My very basic question here is what happens when the camera detects motion? Does it somehow "feed" that event to the DVR? My DVR supports VMD but isn't that only on IP cameras? Just trying to understand how that works and it isn't clear in the manual for the Spectras. I know I can setup motion detection on the DVR itself, however it would obviously only allow one motion area configuration for each video input. If I have multiple presets on the PTZ tour it would apply the same motion area config to each preset which is obviously not going to work. Thanks in advance for any insight!
