jdowning 0 Posted May 24, 2013 Hi guys, I have a Dahua IPC-HF3500 camera and it keeps switching back to SVGA quality, even when I change it to 3MP/5MP. It worked for the first few weeks but then it changed to this quality which is awful. I did install NVR software on another computer, but have closed down the software on all clients and accessed it via a web browser but it switches after 30 seconds or so when I save the settings for 3MP / 5MP. Appreciate your help Jack

jdowning 0 Posted May 25, 2013 Hello there Tom, Thanks for this. If I was to use 5MP, what would the best settings be? And any idea why this is happening? Thanks Jack
tomcctv 190 Posted May 25, 2013 Hello there Tom, Thanks for this. If I was to use 5MP, what would the best settings be? And any idea why this is happening? Thanks Jack Hi Jack the dahua is set by FPS so to use 5mp you cant go above 7fps sounds like you have your camera set to 25-30fps sub stream is set best at cif
jdowning 0 Posted May 27, 2013 Hello there Tom, thanks for your reply. I switched it back to some 5MP settings two days ago and randomly (didn't touch anything) today it changed back to the SXGA quality. Here's the settings I have set it at and it is now switching back after a few seconds. Cheers Jack
dexterash 0 Posted May 29, 2013 Check the logs of the camera to see if/when/how changes were made to encode configuration.
jdowning 0 Posted June 1, 2013 Hi guys, thanks for your help. Still no solution found, but here is what happens immediately after I change to 5 MP. Log: Detailed Information Time: 2013-06-01 17:51:51 User Name: admin Type: Save Configuration Name: Encode Content: Frame rate(FPS) : 8->15 I Frame Interval : 16->30 Resolution : 2048x1536->SXGA
dexterash 0 Posted June 1, 2013 So it seems the camera adapts to the max it can. For instance, you want 15fps, it lowers the resolution. One simple thing to check: change the settings, save it, go into another page of the settings and come back to encode. Did the settings change back? If yes, you are pushing the encoder over it's limits.

jdowning 0 Posted June 3, 2013 What do you use to setup the cameras? Browser? Which one? Hi there Dexter, many thanks for your reply. I have been using Chrome, however tried using Internet Explorer and the same thing. I have an IPC-HDB3300 and changed it to 3MP and it is switching back to 1080 after a few seconds as well :S Any help would be appreciated Cheers Jack
dexterash 0 Posted June 3, 2013 3MP with what framerate? What happens if, for example, you set 3MP with 6 fps? Does it switch back?
cctvikidis 0 Posted June 6, 2013 I had that problem too. Ask from dahua the latest firmware and you should be able to get 5 megapixel video at 8 fps, at least that's how i solved my problem.

Hello there cctv, many thanks for your help! Would you have any idea where I can get the firmware for IPC-HF3500? I looked at the support section on the Dahua website but they are saying that they don't provide support for firmware downloads. Many thanks Jack
jdowning 0 Posted July 11, 2013 Hi guys, So I've downloaded and uploaded the latest firmware to the camera, still switching from 5MP to 3MP sometimes, then back to SXGA. I was wondering if it could be anything to do with the network cable being wired incorrectly? Could it not be able to cope with the 5MP bandwidth and is instead lowering the resolution? Many thanks! MaxIcon 0 Posted July 12, 2013 You could test that by isolating it, if you have the gear. Connect a decent laptop directly to the camera using a relatively short cable and an external 12Vdc supply, and that would give you a dedicated 100Mb connection without anything else running. It's starting to sound like you've got a bad camera...
