Wiring installation for PTZ

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have a ptz ip camera that I purchased, but it does not come with any wiring installations. There is only 2 wires coming out of the camera, there is a rj45 Ethernet female port and a 12volt power supply, which it came with its own power supply.

Where the camera is getting installed I have already cat6 cabling, rg59 & power outlets. There is no wires for the control of the ptz but I assume that will some how be built in to the rj45, any help how to wire up this would be appreciated.

I assume I must need to use Baluns but I have no idea what wire one the rj45 will be doing what.

I plan on once I have the wires sorted out that the video and rs ports will be directly installed into the NVR or does it have to go via a switch or router first.

The camera I have is this one http://www.cctvdiscover.com/ipc-network-cameras-c58/cctv-speed-1080p-x20-ptz-dome-camera-hikvision-module-p189.html

The nvr I am using is http://www.cctvdiscover.com/digital-video-recorder-hybrid-dvr-nvr-c19_86/hikvision-9008hfi-8ch-hybrid-dvr-p192.html

Thanks for your help

Jamie

You do not need baluns, you should have CAT-5 or CAT-6 connected from the camera to the NVR. You are correct that all control signals will be on the CAT-5. The power cable is obviously just power, but it also runs the heaters and fans.

That is a decent camera, good luck!

Thanks for reply

I just wanted to check in case I do something wrong, that may cause some damage because it cost me an arm and a leg. I will use the cat5/6 cable, so its basically plug and play, sounds easy.

I will give it a go.

Thanks

Jamie
