How To: Repair Leaking Eyeball Camera

Recommended Posts

Repairing an eyeball camera with moisture inside.

If it has 4 holes in the ring around the outside of the glass like this one, your in luck.

Mount the camera in a vise using a towel to protect it. Take a small flat blade screwdriver and hammer and tap the screwdriver in several of the holes counterclockwise until the ring loosens. Be careful its glass. Unscrew the ring and remove it.

Remove the glass or lens, than the rubber seal.

Dry the inside of the camera out. Put it somewhere warm for a couple of days. Use a hair dryer, a light under it. Got it!

Assembly: Clean the camera lens, glass or lens and rubber seal. Put a small amount of silicone sealer on the rubber seal, both sides. Insert the seal into camera, install glass, than the ring. Tighten the ring using a few of the holes.

Warning: Do not over tighten the ring because the glass will crack.

Also put silicone sealer where the wire enters the camera. After mounting it and adjusting the zoom and focus put silicone sealer over the adjustment screw holes. There are seals in these 3 places that could leak.

Follow the drying time on the silicone sealer.

Hope this saved your camera!

all done, going to wait a couple of days for the silicone sealer to dry before putting it back up. After fine tuning it I'll fill the zoom and focus holes with silicone.
