Best CCTV System

Recommended Posts

I'm fairly new to the CCTV world, and I'm looking for a good system to monitor my home. I am familiar with the QVIS system interface so would prefer a QVIS system, but there are so many different ones I'm confused.

Basically my criteria is:

5 cameras, 1 being internal

2-3 cameras to have audio capacity

At least 2TB hard drive

USB connection on front of unit

To be able to connect to home network, and view footage from smart phone

Good quality footage in order to be able to identify persons both day and night

Can someone suggest the most appropriate unit, and give advice on which cameras I should get?

Thanks in advance

Paul

Everyone seems to leave out their budget. We can suggest so many different systems but it will largely depend on your budget. If your budget is $500 vs $2000 will make a big difference.

I want to spend as little as possible on a system that will do the job well and fit the criteria.

I was looking as around £300-£400 for system & cameras, I will fit it myself.

Thanks

That is around $500 US. For that price and 5 cameras you are not going to be getting an IP based system.

The cheapest DVR (Dahua) that I can get with 4 channel audio is ~$270 from an authorized distributor with warranty. That will not leave you with much room for cameras especially cameras with audio.
