Setting up a H.264 DVR to allow remote access viewing

Hi, I had this all going once but its now stopped since a power outage . Anyway

this is what I have done so far :

 

Checked the LAN and router can see it ( yes)

checked the dhcp and static Ip settings ( restarting each time ) and setting it to static , made not of settings are equal ( which they were)

checked the port 80 ( no go) so changed the DVR t0 8080 and the router portforwrading to 8080 and using canyou see me checked the port and it says OK .

I can also ping the cameras and each time is a success

 

when I type in IE the ip address of the DVR it will not connect it says :

 

The remote device or resource wont accept the connection?

 

when I get troubleshooter to dig deeper and produce reports I get : #

At this point I am at a loss what to do next as in theory I should be downloading the activex to view the cameras

 

 

Could anyone spare the time just to go through some settings with me to see what the issue is please ?

To view in a browser from a PC on the LAN, I set DVR to static Ip and ensured subnet, gateway etc was correct.

Typing IP address into browser I'm fairly sure it requested active X download as a prompt. If yours isn't prompting, could it be the browsers' security settings are too strict? Perhaps clean up temporary internet files, reboot all, restart and try again. Hope this helps...

 

I also have a H.264 DVR client software which does the same thing. It's a bit cranky but lately I'm thinking it's better running under 'XP SP2 compatibility' for my W7.
