Shielded vs Unshielded RJ45 crimp-on connectors

Recommended Posts

What are the benefits of shielded RJ45 crimp-on connectors? There are six computers, printers, router, access point, and other devices connected to a 24 port switch in the bonus room. When adding cameras and other devices to the LAN, is there any benefit to using shielded connectors when terminating the cables.

If you are using non shielded cat 5e/6/6a cable than using a shielded connector is senseless, if you are expecting a high level of RF interference then using a shielded cable/connector and proper grounding, bonding and signal drain is imperative to a successful implementation.

Good luck and best wishes!
