Replacing i3 with Geo

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

We an i3 DVR that we will be replacing with a GV-1240. It has 5 PTZs connected to it.

The DVR is attached to a Kalatel KTD-83, which is a (GE?) box that takes RS-232 and turns it into 6 RS422 control signals. The PTZs are of course wired to it.

I am unsure of the brand of the PTZs as well as the protocol used; would it be Kalatel?

What would I need in order to control the PTZs from Geovision? Is it as simple at something Geo makes thats RS-232 to RS422?

Thanks in advance.

sortve, but i was hoping to get more info on the hardware side.

rs485 seems to be common, so im not sure what it means that the box were using now is rs422.

does geo make a rs232 to rs422?

is there enough difference between rs422 and rs485?

If you use the Geo based system with Kalatel Cyberdome cameras, you will need to use a KTD-312 converter.
