us.hik-online.com trying to add cams. Device does not exist.

Recommended Posts

Hi, looking for some help / advice.

Want to setup my DS-2CD2132F camera's for remote viewing. Trying to setup DDNS. I've registered up at http://us.hik-online.com/auth/login

However when I go to add a camera, i put in my serial number, give it a domain name, it says the device does not exist. Bought my camera's thru Amazon fulfillment, which came directly from China. Could that be part of the problem? Given i'm trying to register DDNS at http://us.hik-online.com/auth/login

Did you actually configure DDNS on the camera to use HiDDNS?

You do not actually need to register them on the web site at all; that is ok when you have many devices, so you get to see at a glance which one might be offline.

Trying to setup the DDNS tab in the web configuration. However, its really not allowing me to do much at all. Just enter in a domain name, to which it errors out when i hit save, with the error message saying 'Parameter Error' The username, password and confirm fields stay greyed out.

You need to "enable DDNS", DDNS type "HiDDNS". Use "www.hik-online.com" as server address, and whatever name you want to use as "domain" (if it is already in use, it will tell you when you try to save).

thanks www.hik-oline.com or http://us.hik-online.com ?

TBH I'm just using the current issued IP address for now for my port forwarding. After speaking to my neighbor he reckons Comcast has only changed it once in the last 4 yrs... So i may no longer have a need for ddns. But the account is already set, so if its that simple, i may aswell go for it.

edit ** Scrap that. comcast changed my ext IP today.. lol... so yep, do need a ddns service of some kind.

I have always used http://www.hik-oline.com, but feel free to test youself (I am from Europe).

I don't know what serial number you tried to use on that last screenshot, but the serial number is 9 digits, not the full string. Also device domain name should be the same on the device, and on your hik-online account.

just tried just the last 9 digits and still no joy. Even if it did work, it wouldn't get around the fact that all the credential fields are still greyed out in the web configuration tab of DDNS of the actual cam itself.

You only need DDNS type, server address, and domain. That's why the other options are greyed out, they do NOT have to be filled up.

You do NOT need to fill out anything else on the cam. You do not even need to create an account on http://www.hik-online.com for it to work.

I'm not getting how you create the domain, if you're unable to add cams in the hik-online site... How else is a domain going to be created ? For the domain to be created you need to add a cam to the hik-online, or us.hik-online how else is it going to create a domain for you.

Anyway even pretending i had a domain name i entered in the

DDNS Type as: HiDDNS

Server Address as: http://us.hik-online.com/ and also tried http://hik-online.com

Domain: Well since i haven't created a domain, i tried my hik-vision username.

All i get is parameter error when hitting save.

Perhaps i'll try calling their customer support tomorrow, and if i do not get any joy, i may even send these IP cams back. Not really liking how none of it works as posted.. Its as if they're on a beta firmware and its you and your luck as to what parts are going to work !

Step 1: Enable DDNS

Step 2: Choose "HiDDNS"

Step 3: Type "www.hik-online.com" as "Server address"

Step 4: Put whatever name you want as "Domain".

Step 5: Save.

If it saves ok, you are done. If you try to use a name/domain that is already in use by someone else, the camera will tell you, and you will need to use a different domain.

I'm not getting how you create the domain, if you're unable to add cams in the hik-online site... How else is a domain going to be created ? For the domain to be created you need to add a cam to the hik-online, or us.hik-online how else is it going to create a domain for you.

No. Third and last time I say it, you do not even need to use hik-online's web page for this to work.
