Best Camera - Lens for Zmodo Analog System

I need help selecting an outdoor CCTV camera with good definition for my system. I purchased Sony Effio 1/3 CCD camera with "1000 TVL" but the picture is as bad as the prepackaged CMOS camera that came with the system. I need a 3.6mm lens camera with good day and night image. Please help. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated by this newbie. Thanks
