Hello from NYC

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody! Im setting up my home with cameras outside -all around my home -with a zmodo DRV.

I,ll be looking around for how to select cables & such that will survive outside in all weather conditions without spending a lot of money. The Zmodo cables are very thin & cheap. I want to remove the BNC connectors off the cameras and possibly run a 3 wire cable for power & video.

Thanks for Looking!!

I would run an outdoor rated CAT6 wire to each camera and put a Balun on the cameras/DVR. That way if you ever upgrade to IP cameras, you already have to proper wiring. Also, on some baluns, you can run power over them as well.

Thank You for the reply!

I had to google baluns. can I run the 12v power through the cat6 wire or do i need a separate cable?
