Banging Noise in CCTV tower

Recommended Posts

Hello.

An odd one this -

This CCTV tower here: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.2056395,-2.1839166,3a,15y,335.16h,78.76t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s2jaEcmFapBPyJk1Fhr6EWQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

is making a banging noise, similar to an alarm clock going off, but quieter.

Any ideas what this is?

A cooling fan maybe?

Noises are random with no set pattern.

Thanks.

Oliver.

Sounds like a broken gear on the pan or tilt motor.

Have you reported this to the Council?

Hello.

The noise is constant but like I say with no set pattern. Random 'bangs' every 1 - 2 seconds.

The motor isn't constantly running though is it?

Unless it is on a random pan setting overnight I guess.....?

You are correct, the motor only runs when the camera is commanded to move.

I guess there could be a preset tour programmed into the system.
