kenh 0 Posted August 9, 2006 Is opening ports for remote access a security threat? I heard not to open port 80 for security issues? My DVR needs ports 3000,3001,3003 and 80 (Chance i USA)I have had this from 2 years now and never needed the remote access through Internet Explorer. But do now and I'm worried about attacks through the open ports. They have Network software that I use locally. Should I use this for remote access and do I still need the ports opened? rory 0 Posted August 20, 2006 Also, unless you specifically go into the Port Filtering in Networking, there will always be ports available for "hacking" with or without a router .. turn on Filtering for TCP, UDP and Internet, then in TCP just add the ports you need opened for the DVR.
