Convert BNC Camer to RJ45?????

Recommended Posts

The DVR on my Zmodo system died and I need to replace it. I don't want to replace or re-wire the cameras. This is the camera used in the system. http://surveillance.zmodo.com/700tvl-ultra-hi-reso-outdoor-security-camera.html

Features

* 1/4" Color CMOS Image Sensor
* 700 TV Lines, Horizontal
* 3.6mm Lens
* Signal: NTSC
* Night Vision Min. Light: 0 Lux (IR On)
* IR Irradiation Distance: up to 80'
* Operation Temperature: 14F~122F
* Weatherproof: Yes
* Power: 12V DC
* Mount: Wall
* Video Connector: BNC
* Power Connector: RCA 12V DC

It seems like most of the better new DVRs use RJ45 rather than BNC to connect the cameras. Is there an adapter to convert the BNC to an RJ45 input. I have seen the Passive Video Balun adapters that allow you to replace the BNC cable with Cat5/6 cable but that doesn't appear to be what I would need. The end result is still a bnc on both ends.

Can I get something that allows my BNC cameras to use an RJ45 DVR input?

I may add additional cameras at a later date and would like to use newer stuff.

Hi. No dvr uses rj45

DVR is analog and uses BNCs for camera connection

NVR is digital and uses network protocol (IP)

so uses rj45 connectors

however there are converters that will allow you to use your old cameras ..... but the expense is 3 times the cost of 1 IP camera plus the decoders don’t work with many nvrs so no one uses them anymore

Thanks for the info. In looking at all the different products, whether it was a DVR or NVR is sorta hidden amongst all the other stuff.  And when searching for DVRs, NVRs come up also. I'm not going to rewire my house so it looks like I am stuck with a DVR.
