Blue Iris CAUTION!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

FYI, I bought Blue iris V4 ran it updated it till the support ran out. Decided I wanted to move it to a different computer and that's when I figured out there may be some questionable practices with it? Like I said I had version 4 that had support for its limited time line. While I had support it updated from version 4 to version 5.4.6.3 (BUT) here is ware things go astray! By moving it to another computer you get SCREWED! because your valid key wont work for that new version! and I had to reinstall version 4 and that version will NOT let you update to the same version it DOWN GRADES you! to version 4 UNLESS you buy another key that will let you up grade it for one year for an additional $30 US.

Only running it on ONE machine replaced machine it was originally installed on!

Hi. Why a big caution ???

You will find most like blue iris will protect there software

And they have good reason too…. No point licensing the software and allowing it to run on multiple machines (unless the license allows it)

people would just make units and sell on eBay

Seems they Don't REALLY export your true settings as they upgraded me to ver 5 plus. But when I exported it took me back to none upgraded version. Looks to me like deceptive practices! As a true export would of took (ALL) my settings and not downgraded me so they can charge me $30 to get me back to ware I was? Looks like extortion to me?

Wrong……… your licence is for the pc you are using  1 licence.
move to another pc needs another licence as your first licence was used on first pc

again it is so you can make multiple machines

Yes I shut down the first machine and replaced it with a (NEW) machine hence I have one machine trying to run the package NOT MULTIPALE MACHINES! You seem to know nothing about Blue Iris as when you use their EXPORT command it in its self deauthorizes the current copy to that machine for the purpose of only allowing one PC per the license IF YOU READ the post It let me put version 4 on the new machine (BUT) did not move my current settings in the export! It only moved the cameras not anything to do with the version I have bean using.

IF I move OTHER software to a new machine most (ALL) of them install then update to the supported level! Blue iris DON'T DO THAT! hence the warning if you update your computer expect the same thing I went through!

Your licence is on first machine ….. so licences used.
It can’t be used on second machine

So this is why the program has a BUILT IN INTERFACE TO IMPORT & EXPORT YOUR SETTINGS? So one can MOVE things to and from. A smart programmer wouldn't expect a PC to last forever. Most real programs allow you to remove and re install things AKA transfer to a new machine.
