  1. Hi, i'm Tom from the UK. Fairly new to CCTV but learning every day.

Just registered, although I have used CCTVForum for help when I installed my Dahua and 2 cameras. Thanks for that. I have managed to get remote and wireless access, after many hours changing numerous parameters.

So, now I can get access from work, using a ddns address, which has been helped by you guys.

But, I have not got a smartphone to work yet. I believe I can install gDMMS, but I am unclear as to how gDMMS works, does it use the 4g or wifi ?

I can get access to free wifi in many areas, so that would save on the 4g costs.

Any help gratefully received. Regards Tom

It can use both 4g & wifi as long as the dvr port has been forwarded correctly. So to cut cost don't view when on 3g

  2. I recently ran into a good deal on an AHD PT camera. It's of good construction and works... if I change my system to PAL format.

According to the instructions that came with the camera it can be changed to NTSC by sending the command string 'Set 85, call 62, call 2' to the camera over RS485. Although the instructions mention sending the string from the DVR, none of my DVRs seem to have the ability to send anything over RS485 other than PTZ control.

Has anyone here run into this problem? How did you solve it?

I know I can buy a USB to RS485 adapter, but what do I use to create and send the command string?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    OldeWolfe

Set 85 means Set preset 85, call means to use preset 62 then use preset 2, it is in the DVR PTZ settings.

  3. Another opinion question. We have AHD running in our business and the quality appears to be super. CVI is the Dahua product and get's a good bit of press.

If you use a 24" and above Monitor/TV to compare TVI/CVI/AHD DVR you can see that AHD is the worst of these so call HD Analog system but it is cheap though.

  4. I did already say that we are using a converter box. This coverts HD-SDI to HDMI.

I am using a similar SDI to HDMI converter without any problem. It's best for you to troubleshoot the fault this way:-

Try bring your SDI camera to a shop that sells SDI DVR, see if they willing to let you try, if that works that means you might have gotten yourself a spoilt converter.

Also, you can bring along the converter and test with their SDI Camera. BTW, where did you buy the SDI PTZ?

  5. I believe the coverage angle is 80 degrees - and I can change the filter to 120 degrees if you think I need to widen the coverage area - but will that help reduce the "hot spot" area in the middle?

Any recommendations on the camera settings that I should play with to get a more balanced picture? Right now I am using the default Hikvision camera settings...

Actually the camera need to have "Smart IR" function but that normally comes with a camera with built-in IR, it will reduce the power to the LED when object is closer to the lens so you will not get a white washed effect.

  6. Hi chaps. As the title suggests, is anyone aware of any HD (ideally 1080p) box cameras that will accept an analogue mic input at the camera and encode it, along with the video, and send out via HD-SDI?

I have an old Everfocus EQH5000 that I thought would do the job, but looking at the manual, the mic input is labelled as a "future feature". Short of finding a camera with this feature built-in, has anyone come across a reasonably priced encoder that will add audio to an HD-SDI video stream?

    Thanks again

    Matt

Just get a 4 channel SDI DVR that supports audio input. It will be cheaper than getting a dedicated SDI encoder with audio. I find most SDI media converters tend to be very expensive.

  7. Hi,

What kind of smallest 12 volts battery is there available to power a wireless mini ip cam that can be hidden anywhere?

Do I have to get normal 9 volts battery plus 3 AA 1.5 volts battery and series them to form 12 volts? Lead rechargeable batteries would be too big. Is there commercially available rechargeable 12 volts battery?

Been using this for a few years, if you get the higher capacity will last 24hours if your IPC does not use much power.

  8. I used several HDSDI cameras, and a single HDCVI PTZ camera mounted about 150 feet from the stage. I used a DH-TP2105 to convert the signal into HDMI and then fed that into a frame rate converter (output was 60 frames, all other cams were @ 1080p25) then into a blackmagic 4K switcher along with the four other hdSDI cameras, You can see the results here http://carnavalmiami.tv.

My question is: there was a bit of a delay from the HDCVI, I am trying to see if that was due to the frame rate converter or if it is inherent in HDCVI, with usual applications the slight delay would not be an issue but with several cameras and music it is.

Nice video! But which clip is CVI & which is SDI? When I view livestream very jerky so did not bother to compare. Also, why don't you just use SDI PTZ. The converter is so much cheaper. And camera also not much difference in price.

Note:Just notice the Blackmagic 4K takes SDI input so you don't need any converter

  9. Good morning to all this great people of this forum, I have a problem with the upgrade of a DVR DAHUA model DH-HCVR5108H download an upgrade from this page http://operkom.com/descargas-operkom/software-controladores/84-dahua compressed folder there are 2 updates the first is this CONFIG_Dahua_SpnEng_NP_SAmerica_WebSpnEng_V3.1.0.3_Dahua_DVR5X_V2.616.0.R.140218_1413654705 the recording to the flash drive and the perfect upgrade. but the second is this DH_DVR5X08_Eng_N_V3.200.0001.2.R.20140516 I get an error when I try to be that this can not be updated dvr really appreciate all the help you can give me

    regards

This looks like the analog Dahua firmware. BTW, what's the reason for you to upgrade?

  10. Quick Question:

Using HD-SDI signal, I was told I have to use rg59 or rg6 with full copper.

Is "full copper coax cable" meaning full copper conductor and full copper braid as well? or Can I use full copper conductor with cca braid?

    https://www.honeywellcable.com/CatalogDocuments/RG59-BC-Shield-vs-CCA-Shield.pdf

I have been using Honeywell 6508 cables(full copper conductor/cca braid).

Just full copper conductor will be fine but make sure cable rated as 3GHz.

  11. Its a bit early for that. AHD has literally been on the market a few weeks so far as I am aware.

for the uninitiated, AHD (analogue High Definition)

Actually AHD was roll out in China much earlier, around July 2014. I have yet to see a good AHD system that can beat CVI but of course with AHD pricing very close to analog that would not be a fair comparison.

  12. Another problem is distance

Over coax max 150 it does 1080 after that and over cat it's down to 720p

Sales pitch is easy upgrade for coax but it is also a camera resolution fall back something your not going to get with IP

If something is good for a company then they keep hold of it .... For some reason dahua have already sold off a licence

Dahua sold off a license for CVI? I don't get what you mean? Any source? TIA

  13. It gets pretty expensive with LPR and you are typically charged per lane and while their software is one of the least expensive LPR solutions out there at about $800/camera, it's far from the best.

My cameras is set at 1/200 second exposure, I'm pretty sure I can capture a car going much faster. Certainly fast enough to get a plate going in/out of a parking lot. The only reason we do LPR is to activate a gate automatically based on a plate match. From a security standpoint, not sure you would benefit from LPR as you just want to see a plate in a video.

I get good capture of moving vehicle plates at night if I set 1/200 second on my SDI too, but when daytime come it is all whitewashed. Your IPC without this problem?

  14. I have reverse opinion for HD-SDI from Numb-Nuts, actually, I believe guys has ever install HD-SDI will be prove the quality is best than IP, CVI, AHD and TVI. Particularly in night time which perfrom excellent and no lagging/ lantancy in video streaming. Further more, cabling is most hard work for instal low volatge even for IP config is more difficult gap if you no much experience.

SDI is weakness of trasmitting disatnce but at present has more solution to overcome it. Anyway, you amy consider all then to pick up which is curcial factor you care.

Do you know of specific manufacturers that are committed to carrying HDSDI forward? Most of what I've seen is people trying to get rid of it like the plague. Assuming HDSDI is everything it promises to be, are there still going to be reliable people manufacturing HDSDI products?

    Have you heard of Eyenix?

    http://www.eyenix.com/index/sub01.php?vmenu=v0201

I have tested an ordinary SDI with their TX-RX EX-SDI and manage to get excellent signal on a 300 meter run of cheap but Real Full copper RG59. Now my supplier has already started to offer EX-SDI camera so you will only need the receiver at DVR end if the cable run is above 130+- meter. And soon they will have EX-SDI DVR.

  15. There are other issues to consider such as the quality and type of cable. The rg59 might have been a much better cable in most or all of those situations. I don't know how many anecdotal examples you have, but maybe the rg6 cable was copper clad aluminum (CCA). I have read that hdcvi video starts to degrade pretty rapidly over aluminum. I know there are far fewer choices of rg6 than rg59 cable available and it is possible that those installs were done with inferior cable, though less likely if you have a lot of examples.

You're definitely correct about HDCVI degrading over CCA. I can honestly say though that these guys are using solid copper. I know because they made me sell it to them against my advice

Are you very sure about your source for the full copper RG6?

  16. I am installing an HD-CVI 960p system on my property (business) and I have cable runs that go up to 200 meters. I want to know if I can get by using rg59 (solid copper, high quality, direct burial - something I already have) or if I will be better served by rg6 (same quality as rg59).

Essentially, I am asking if I stand to gain anything in the way of image quality by using rg6 at that distance. OR, at what distance would rg6 make a difference in image quality - assuming all cables are high quality, solid copper?

As long as full copper RG59 or RG6 also will give the same quality @200 meter

Have you tested HDCVI with RG6 yourself? If so, do you know what the specs are on that RG6 cable?

We've had nearly 100% of our customers using RG6 end up with terrible results when using it with HDCVI.

What do you mean by terrible results? Is the video with interference or no signal at all? Any video clips?

  17. Hi all,

I am looking for a software solution which supports both IP cameras for security reasons and doorstation functionality with audio/video and door functionality.

Client/app should show live images of all security cameras, when person at the door rings the bell the software should show the image of the doorstation and it should be possible to talk with the person at the door plus opening the door through the software.

Following hardware needs to be supported:

4 times Ip camera - preferred Bosch

2 Touchscreens - location A and B, acting as client, either through app or software client

1 outdoor doorstation preferred with camera integrated- 2 choices for either company A or B

1 dooropener, already installed in existing door.

I have asked already Genetec, Milestone, Mobotix, Paxton, Comelit and several other companies, but nobody can cover this.

Would be great if anybody knows a solution for this request, looking already 4 months for a solution now.......

Dahua already have this solutions. Their video door phone is IP based.
